Job summary

Responsibilities

• Oversee mechanical devices in operation, monitor for issues using test instruments.
• Dismantle equipment to inspect parts and replace defective components.
• Measure parts with calipers, micrometers and other tools to ensure tolerances.
• Adjust devices and install parts; lubricate and clean components.
• Operate drill press, grinder and milling tools to fabricate/repair parts.
• Test devices to verify performance and document results.
• Request and coordinate parts procurement for repairs.
• Perform basic welding as needed and follow safety guidelines.

Position Objective

Conduct maintenance of mechanical processes in a manner that will ensure the highest reliability. Repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment such as pumps, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyors systems and production machines and equipment. Observe mechanical equipment in operation and troubleshoot failures.

Maintenance

• Oversee mechanical devices while in operation look and listen for complications using accurate testing and measuring instruments.
• Dismantle equipment to examine form and texture of parts to detect imperfections. Repair or replace defective parts.
• Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements, using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
• Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments. Install special functional and structural parts in devices.
• Lubricate and clean parts.
• Setup and operate drill press, grinder, mill and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
• Start devices to test their performance.
• Request parts (stock and equipment) for purchase and implementation.
• Repair welding as needed
• Complete maintenance care obligations, according to manufacturer recommendations or as instructed.
• Perform basic electrical and instrumentation work, as required.

• Maintain clean and safe work area, use only food grade materials when making repairs
• Assist in maintaining equipment to Food Grade standards, meeting SQF requirements

Qualifications

Skills & Knowledge Preferred

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Minimum of 2-3 years related of industrial maintenance experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical terminology.
• Ability to recognize problems with several types of industrial machinery, pneumatics, robots, and automation equipment.
• Knowledge of laser alignment.
• Repair welding experience.
• Basic electrical and instrumentation knowledge.
• Experience in food processing.
• In depth understanding of all mechanical components i.e.: gears, sprockets, pneumatics, hydraulics, piping, drive trains, bearings, shafts, fasteners etc.
• In depth understanding of processing equipment i.e.: pumps, fans, blowers, rotary valves, agitators, conveyors, valves, vacuum, and pressure systems, filters, dust collection
