Job summary

PPG is hiring an Industrial Maintenance Technician for the Strongsville, OH facility. The role offers a starting pay of $33.67–$35.72 per hour with a $0.65 shift differential and a $1,000 sign-on bonus.

The 2nd shift runs 3:00pm–11:00pm, with responsibilities spanning mechanical, electrical and HVAC maintenance across plant equipment. The candidate should have 3–5 years in maintenance, be able to read prints/diagrams, and perform in a multi-craft environment.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of commercial or industrial maintenance experience preferred.
• HVAC or electrical background strongly preferred.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair plant production and utility equipment.
• Read and understand prints, CAD drawings and equipment manuals.

Responsibilities

• Repair, modify and install equipment to maintain the facility.
• Perform preventive maintenance on belts, piping, filters, mixers, valves, motors and pumps.
• Work in confined spaces and at heights using ladders or scaffolding.
• Troubleshoot equipment and proof test as needed to prevent problems.
• Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Identify root causes, develop options, and implement solutions.
• Maintain records and reports; perform PLC ladder logic troubleshooting.
• Install/test/maintain control devices and process motor control systems.
• Work from technical documents, blueprints and schematics; basic welding/fabrication.

Industrial Maintenance Technician, Strongsville OH

Starting pay: $33.67-$35.72 based on experience plus a $.65 shift differential.

Experience Requirements

The successful candidate will be required to perform in a multi-craft environment. This position requires strong experience in mechanical, electrical and HVAC fields. Prior experience in manufacturing and plant maintenance is preferred. Thorough knowledge of Industrial production and utility equipment operation is preferred.

Primary Responsibilities

• Repair, modify and install equipment to maintain and operate the facility.
• Perform preventative maintenance on belts, piping, filters, mixers, valves, bearings, motors, gear boxes, agitators, dies, extruders, feeders, rolls, drive chains, classifiers, mills, and mechanical seals and pumps.
• Work in confined spaces, on elevated platforms, ladders, scaffolding and roofs.
• Perform all tasks associated with troubleshooting equipment and proof test equipment as necessary to solve problems and pro-actively prevent them.
• Perform all tasks associated with preventive and predictive maintenance programs
• Recognize problems, identify root cause, and develop options to address the root cause within time constraints, and select and implement appropriate solution.
• Accurately maintains records and reports as required
• PLC ladder logic troubleshooting and maintenance of power systems through standard instrumentation.
• Install, test and maintain control devices, pressure-sensing units and flow measuring devices.
• Install, calibrate, test, troubleshoot, and repair Allen Bradley PLCs and install, test and maintain process motor control systems.
• Work from detailed technical documents, blueprints and schematics.
• Basic welding and fabrication

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of commercial or industrial maintenance or related skills preferred.
• HVAC or Electrical experience/background is strongly preferred.
• Possess the ability to troubleshoot and repair various plant production and utility equipment.
• Read and understand prints, CAD drawings and equipment technical manuals.
• Possess strong computer skills.
• Be able to work in an environment where respiratory protective equipment is required.
• Operate various Plant production and utility equipment and associated process control equipment.
• Be flexible with start/quit times, including the ability to work overtime when needed.
• Accept extended and/or weekend schedules if needed.
• Experience using hand tools and power hand tools.
• Ability to read, interpret and understand technical documents and drawings of plant equipment.
• Ability to perform confined space entry, work at heights, lifting, and manual labor.
• Basic PC skills including Microsoft Word and Excel software, CMMS operating systems.
