Job summary

ENVIGO RMS LLC in Madison, Wisconsin is seeking a Maintenance Technician to oversee preventive and on-demand maintenance at our Teklad production facilities. You will be responsible for ensuring that all equipment is operational and adheres to safety regulations.

The ideal candidate will have three or more years of experience in electrical, HVAC, and mechanical maintenance, along with strong problem-solving skills. The role offers a comprehensive benefits package and salary commensurate with experience.

Job description

Shift: 1st Shift Monday – Friday 5:30 AM – 2:00 PM, with approximately one Saturday per month.

Position Summary

The role is responsible for performing all preventive, on‑demand, and improvement maintenance activities at Envigo RMS LLC – Teklad Custom and Standard Diet production facilities, as well as maintaining safety and security equipment. The position reports to the Manager of Facilities Maintenance or designator.

Responsibilities

• Actively participate in the implementation and maintenance of the facility’s health & safety program.
• Perform safe, timely, and cost‑effective preventive maintenance for all building, grounds, and equipment in compliance with the quality management system and health & safety program.
• Perform safe, timely, and cost‑effective repair of buildings and repair and replacement of equipment on‑demand.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, HVAC, and electrical equipment to ensure availability.
• Communicate effectively with production, shipping, and receiving employees regarding repair schedules, completion, and equipment availability.
• Train other maintenance technicians and selected production co‑workers in preventive and repair maintenance work.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Three or more years of electrical, HVAC and mechanical industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Industrial maintenance professional designation, including state‑recognized trades such as Industrial Mechanic/Millwright; Master Electrician preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree or other advanced degree in engineering helpful but not required.

Preferred Skills

• Accomplished oral and written communication skills.
• Hands‑on industrial maintenance experience across multiple trade areas (electrical, mechanical, material fabrication, plumbing).
• Ability to supervise and review work of lower‑level technicians.
• Strong independent work ethic with moderate supervision.
• Continuous improvement experience (Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, ISO quality systems).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Mathematical skills including geometric and volumetric calculations.
• Understanding of solid and liquid process flow.
• Physical mobility to lift up to 50 lb., climb stairs and ladders, and enter confined spaces for inspection and repair.
