NAFCO has an immediate need for an experienced Maintenance Technician with electrical experience to join its team at its steel fabricating facility in Cullman. This is a direct-hire opportunity to join a growing organization that is a leader within the industry! General Accountability

Responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive, and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Start machines and observe mechanical operation to determine efficiency and detect problems.
  • Read work orders and specifications to determine machines and equipment requiring repair or maintenance.
  • Inspect or test damaged machine parts and mark defective areas or advise supervisors of repair needs.
  • Reassemble machines after repair or maintenance work.
  • Dismantle machines and remove parts for repair, using hand tools, chain falls, jacks, cranes, or hoists.
  • Install, replace, or change machine parts and attachments, according to production specifications.
  • Collaborate with other workers to repair or move machines, machine parts, or equipment.
  • Inventory and requisition machine parts, equipment, and supplies to maintain stock.
  • Record production, repair, and maintenance information.
  • Set up and operate machines and adjust controls to regulate operations.
  • Lubricate or apply adhesives or other materials to machines or parts, following procedures.
  • Collect and discard worn machine parts and refuse to maintain machinery and work areas.
  • Clean machines and parts using solvents, cloths, air guns, hoses, vacuums, or other equipment.
  • Transport machine parts, tools, and equipment between work areas and storage using cranes or forklifts.
  • Remove hardened material from machines or parts using abrasives, power and hand tools, jackhammers, or sledgehammers.
  • Measure, mix, and prepare chemical solutions for cleaning or repairing machinery.
Detailed Work Activities
  • Test mechanical equipment for proper functioning.
  • Operate overhead cranes and forklifts.
  • Clean equipment, parts, or tools for maintenance.
  • Lubricate equipment for proper functioning.
  • Repair or replace worn, damaged, or defective mechanical parts.
  • Communicate with coworkers for installations or repairs.
  • Inspect mechanical equipment for damage or wear.
  • Reassemble equipment after repair.
  • Adjust equipment for optimal performance.
  • Clean work areas.
  • Disassemble equipment for maintenance or repair.
  • Observe equipment in operation to detect problems.
  • Maintain repair or maintenance records.
  • Maintain inventories of materials and equipment.
  • Install replacement parts.
  • Read work orders to determine repairs needed.
  • Prepare solutions for repairs.
  • Coordinate with coworkers to resolve equipment problems.
  • Work in varying climate conditions (heat/cold).
Education and Training
  • High School diploma/GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship or equivalent experience.
  • An AA degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance is a plus.
  • Five or more years of manufacturing experience with strong mechanical skills.
  • Must be motivated and able to work independently or in a team.
  • Willing to obtain OSHA 10-Hour Certification.
  • Work on various shifts, including nights and weekends, as necessary.
