Steel and Metal Systems, Inc. is seeking a full-time Maintenance Technician at our Blackshear, GA plant. You will maintain metal manufacturing equipment and facilities, including hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems, ensuring high uptime and safety.

You will inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and lubricate machinery, prepare maintenance reports, and coordinate preventive maintenance with management. Some welding and reading blueprints required.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and mechanical repair.
• Ability to read blueprints and repair manuals.
• Ability to perform some welding and use hand/power tools.

Responsibilities

About this position

Steel and Metal Systems, Inc. is seeking a full-time maintenance technician for our manufacturing plant in Blackshear, GA. The Maintenance Technician will perform general maintenance and repairs for metal manufacturing equipment and facilities including fluid power, electrical, mechanical, and other production systems. Maintenance technicians will oversee the performance and maintenance of large production machinery.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Inspect and identify equipment or machines in need of repair to identify problems or issues.


• Troubleshoots issues to determine necessary repairs and identify the causes of unexpected breakdowns of machines.


• Repairs broken machines quickly and efficiently.


• Plans repair work using building’s blueprints or equipment manual as needed.


• Performs welding as necessary for some maintenance repairs.


• Thoroughly cleans, oils, and lubricates machines and machine parts to ensure effective performance.


• Prepare reports documenting work performed.


• Coordinates with managers to schedule regular preventative maintenance on machines.


• Collaborates with manager regarding new machines being added and modifications required.


• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Thorough knowledge of general hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical repair.


• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.


• Ability to follow instructions from supervisors.


• Ability to read blueprints, building plans, and repair manuals.


• Ability to perform some welding.


• Ability to use hand tools and power tools.


• Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.


• Must have at least 3 years’ maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.


• You must have a good work history.


• Some vocational college with related coursework preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods standing and walking.


• Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces.


• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.

Pay: Commensurate with experience.
