Job summary

Fras-Le in Prattville, AL is seeking an Industrial Maintenance Tech V to ensure safe, reliable operation of plant equipment through preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance. You will mentor technicians, lead maintenance strategies, and support OEM upgrades while maintaining safety and environmental standards.

The role requires hands-on expertise with hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical controls, PLCs, VFDs, CMMS, and strong collaboration with production, engineering, quality, and safety

Qualifications

  • 4 years of industrial maintenance experience.
  • Completing Vocational Maintenance Technician Training (Electrics/Mechanics/Robots/PLC) is preferred.
  • Associate degree in Industrial Mechanics / Electrics or related field is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Follow and maintain all EHS and safety standards.
  • Lead preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance to maximize equipment reliability.
  • Develop maintenance strategies to reduce breakdowns and optimize scheduled maintenance.
  • Diagnose and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, mechanical, PLC, and automation systems.
  • Design, implement, and oversee equipment upgrades, major repairs, and improvements.
  • Drive root cause analysis of failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Program, troubleshoot, and maintain PLCs, VFDs, motor drives, and automation systems.
  • Promote CMMS usage and track work orders.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of industrial equipment and facility infrastructure through preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance. The role provides technical support to production teams, contributes to continuous improvement initiatives, and helps optimize processes to achieve maximum equipment and facility availability at controlled costs and acceptable quality. This position may also involve mentoring less experienced technicians, participating in equipment or facility upgrades, and supporting projects that enhance overall operational performance while maintaining compliance with all safety and environmental standards.

RESPONSIBILITITES
  • Follow and maintain all EHS and safety standards and procedures.
  • Lead and coordinate preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities to maximize equipment reliability, facility availability, and operational performance.
  • Develop and implement maintenance strategies that reduce equipment breakdowns, improve planned maintenance compliance, optimize scheduled maintenance, and ensure successful execution of shutdowns, wash-up days, and other planned maintenance events.
  • Independently diagnose and repair complex hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, mechanical, PLC, and automation systems while providing advanced technical support to production teams.
  • Design, implement, and oversee equipment upgrades, major repairs, rebuilds, installations, and continuous improvement projects aimed at improving reliability, maintainability, and overall equipment effectiveness.
  • Drive root cause analysis of equipment failures and downtime events, develop corrective actions, and create standardized lessons learned to prevent recurrence.
  • Program, troubleshoot, and maintain PLCs, VFDs, motor drives, industrial controls, and automation systems, including software backups, uploads, downloads, and configuration changes.
  • Promote and maintain effective use of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) by updating maintenance procedures, tracking work orders, reporting parts issues, and improving asset management practices.
  • Collaborate closely with production, engineering, quality, safety, and other departments to prioritize maintenance activities, resolve operational issues, and support plant performance goals.
  • Lead, mentor, train, and develop maintenance technicians by reviewing work performance, identifying skill gaps, and promoting continuous technical growth.
  • Monitor and drive departmental KPIs related to equipment reliability, maintenance performance, downtime reduction, backlog management, and maintenance cost control.
  • Maintain a strong presence on the production floor, engaging with employees across departments to ensure maintenance needs are addressed, work standards are followed, and customer requirements are met.
  • Ensure equipment, facilities, utilities, and building infrastructure are maintained in a safe, clean, and organized condition, including general facility maintenance activities as required.
  • Support and actively participate in all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs, ensuring compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and safe work practices.
  • Complete assigned work orders and other duties as requested.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS/EQUIPMENT OPERATIONS REQUIREMENT
  • Ability to continuously stand, sit, walk, stoop, bend, push, pull, reach, grasp and lift (up to 50lbs) for up 8 hours a day on a concrete floor (over 8 hours when working overtime).
  • Ability to move around a manufacturing setting.
  • Ability to work in small, confined spaces (only when necessary).
  • Ability to work at extreme heights accompanied by required safety devices.
  • Ability to operate various vibrating mechanical tools and equipment for extended periods of time
