Job summary

ATI is seeking a Maintenance Technician IV to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain complex electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, PLC-controlled, and robotic production systems. You will lead technical efforts, mentor junior technicians, and support continuous improvement initiatives in a dynamic manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Advanced electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic equipment and fluid power systems.
  • High-level understanding of PLC-controlled equipment with the ability to troubleshoot control system failures independently.
  • Experience with industrial robotics, including troubleshooting and programming edits.
  • Experience with AC/DC motor controls and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated production equipment.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting of PLC-controlled systems, identifying electrical, programming, and mechanical faults to restore equipment operation.
  • Support industrial robotic systems by troubleshooting equipment issues, performing programming edits, and assisting with automation improvements.
  • Install, repair, and maintain hydraulic presses, fluid power systems, pumps, valves, cylinders, motors, and associated mechanical components.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain AC/DC motor controls, variable frequency drives (VFDs), sensors, relays, and industrial control systems.
  • Utilize electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, blueprints, OEM manuals, and technical documentation to diagnose equipment failures and complete repairs.
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance using established maintenance procedures and reliability-centered maintenance practices.
  • Complete equipment inspections, maintenance records, work orders, and documentation accurately within the maintenance management system.
  • Assist in root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to improve equipment reliability and reduce recurring failures.
  • Train, coach, and mentor Maintenance Technicians I-III by providing technical guidance, troubleshooting support, and sharing maintenance best practices.
  • Serve as a key stakeholder for vibration and temperature monitoring systems, utilizing condition-based monitoring data to identify potential equipment failures, support predictive maintenance efforts, and improve equipment reliability.

Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Technician IV is a highly skilled maintenance professional responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining complex electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, PLC-controlled, and robotic production systems. This role works independently and collaboratively with plant personnel to maximize equipment reliability, minimize downtime, and improve production efficiency. The Technician IV provides technical leadership, mentors Maintenance Technicians I-III, and supports continuous improvement initiatives.

POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSINCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated production equipment.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting of PLC-controlled systems, identifying electrical, programming, and mechanical faults to restore equipment operation.
  • Support industrial robotic systems by troubleshooting equipment issues, performing programming edits, and assisting with automation improvements.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in complex mechanical assemblies and precision measurements.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated systems.
  • Ability to prioritize work, manage multiple tasks, and respond to equipment issues with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Proactive approach to preventive maintenance and equipment reliability improvements.
Required Qualifications(Equivalent combinations of education, licenses, certifications and/or experience will be considered):
  • Minimum of five (5) years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Advanced electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic equipment and fluid power systems.
  • High-level understanding of PLC-controlled equipment with the ability to troubleshoot control system failures independently.
  • Experience with industrial robotics, including troubleshooting and programming edits.
  • Experience with AC/DC motor controls and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, kneel, and work in confined spaces for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work at heights and in varying environmental conditions.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, or respond to emergency maintenance needs as required.
