Job summary

Atkore International is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic I to support preventive and corrective maintenance at our Hobart, IN plant. You will perform mechanical maintenance on plant machinery, participate in 5S and safety initiatives, and assist with changeovers and planning with supervisors.

The role requires 1–3 years in industrial maintenance, ability to lift up to 60 lbs, and experience with mechanical systems, fabrication, and lubrication.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 1–3 years of maintenance experience in medium to heavy industrial environments.
• Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.
• Stand and walk up to 12 hours per day.
• Experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical systems (pneumatic, hydraulic, power trains).
• Experience in fabricating, including burning, cutting, and welding (stick and MIG).
• Experience in checks and alignments on drives/transmissions and rotating machinery.
• Knowledge of lubrication systems and best practices for rigging.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate systems or facilities to determine maintenance or repairs needed.
• Assist team with technical issues or advanced problems.
• Prepare for production shift and ensure proper changeover needs are met.
• Plan work priorities with managers and supervisors, obtain supplies, and assess needed skills.
• Develop and execute PM, PdM, and CPL programs for assets in the plant.
• Track maintenance work, checklists, time, materials, and resources.
