Job summary

Guardian Glass in Galax, VA is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support production equipment on rotating 2nd or 3rd shifts. The role involves mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic work, plus basic fabrication and adherence to safety standards.

You will diagnose problems, perform preventive maintenance, read schematics, use hand and power tools, and work in a loud, high-volume plant. Starting pay is $22–$24 per hour with a $2,000 sign-on bonus.

Qualifications

• Experience in an industrial manufacturing environment with strong hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and industrial electrical skills.
• Experience troubleshooting issues with bearings, chains, sprockets, gearboxes, motors & conveyors.
• An Industrial Maintenance degree or similar education.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance on production machines and plant facilities, including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic work.
• Perform basic fabrication tasks (welding, cutting, forming).
• Diagnose problems, replace parts, and test with supervision.
• Conduct regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and facilities.
• Use hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment.
• Troubleshoot PLC controllers and process automation systems.
• Adhere to safety & environmental regulations and maintain a clean workspace.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
• Lift up to 50 lbs and work in a loud, hot, cold, dusty environment for extended periods.
