Job summary

TOPPAN Packaging Americas in Morristown, TN, is hiring an Industrial Maintenance Reliability Technician III to maintain and improve manufacturing equipment, diagnose complex issues, and minimize downtime. You will perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance across mechanical and electrical systems, report to the Maintenance Supervisor, and ensure safe, efficient operation.

You will read electrical schematics, troubleshoot PLCs, relays, motors, and control systems, maintain CMMS

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in industrial maintenance and troubleshooting preferred.
  • Ability to read electrical blueprints, diagrams, and technical docs.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all plant safety policies and procedures, including LOTO and PPE.
  • Read electrical blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
  • Troubleshoot motors, relays, contactors, and electrical components using diagnostic tools.
  • Troubleshoot and repair PLCs, controls, and motor-control systems.
  • Diagnose mechanical/electrical failures and determine corrective actions.
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on plant equipment.
  • Maintain and repair chillers, pumps, compressors, and related equipment.
  • Operate shop equipment such as bandsaws, mills, and lathes.
  • Document repairs, parts used, and equipment conditions in the CMMS.
  • Maintain spare-parts inventory and organized parts room.
  • Participate in GPS activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work overtime or weekends as needed.

Job description

Position: Industrial Maintenance Reliability Technician III


Location: Morristown, TN


Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM, rotating as required


Pay Rate: $38.11–$41.83/hour


Summary Description

The Industrial Maintenance Reliability Technician III (IMRT III) is an advanced maintenance position responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving manufacturing equipment to maximize reliability and minimize downtime. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, this position performs preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance across mechanical and electrical systems. The IMRT III will diagnose complex equipment issues, identify root causes, and work independently to keep production equipment operating safely and efficiently.


What You’ll Be Doing


  • Follow all plant safety policies and procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), PPE requirements, and safe machine operation.

  • Read and interpret electrical blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, equipment specifications, and technical documentation.

  • Troubleshoot motors, contactors, relays, and other electrical components using multimeters and other diagnostic equipment.

  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical controls, PLCs, industrial controls, and motor control systems.

  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical equipment failures and determine the appropriate corrective action.

  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on manufacturing and facility equipment.

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair chillers, process pumps, compressors, ink pumps, glue pumps, and related equipment.

  • Operate and work with shop equipment including bandsaws, mills, and lathes.

  • Perform equipment repairs and calibrations while minimizing production downtime.

  • Identify the root cause of recurring production equipment issues and implement effective repairs.

  • Ensure production and related equipment remains in safe and reliable operating condition.

  • Document completed repairs, parts used, equipment conditions, and maintenance activities within the CMMS.

  • Assist with maintaining appropriate spare-parts inventory and an organized parts room.

  • Participate in Global Performance System (GPS) activities, including 5Star, Pillar Teams, audits, Near Miss reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance and respond to overtime or weekend needs as required.

  • Perform additional maintenance duties and projects as assigned.


We’d Love to Hear From You


  • If you have significant industrial maintenance or military maintenance experience troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining manufacturing equipment.

  • You have strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.

  • You have experience troubleshooting PLCs, electrical controls, motors, contactors, relays, and industrial motor-control systems.

  • You are comfortable reading and interpreting electrical blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.

  • You have hands-on experience performing preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance.

  • You have experience diagnosing equipment failures and performing root-cause troubleshooting.

  • You have experience with industrial equipment such as chillers, pumps, compressors, motors, and related systems.

  • Experience with blown film, sheet extrusion, flexographic printing, lamination, slitting, or ancillary flexible-packaging equipment is preferred.

  • You have experience using a CMMS to document maintenance activities and equipment history.

  • You can safely operate a forklift.

  • You are comfortable using mechanical lifts and ladders and performing work that requires kneeling, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 50 pounds.

  • You can work independently, prioritize multiple maintenance needs, and respond effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  • You are available to work overtime and weekends when production or maintenance needs require it.
