Job summary

SSAB is hiring a Mechanical Maintenance Operator to maintain, repair and improve plant equipment. The role blends millwright skills with welding, hydraulics, pneumatics and basic PLC interaction to support safe, efficient operations.

Expected to work rotating 12-hour shifts, days and nights, with overtime eligibility. Requires a strong mechanical background and at least 2 years in heavy industry; associates degree or technical cert is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have strong mechanical background.
• Minimum of 2 years of heavy industrial experience.
• Stick/Mig welding experience (overhead).
• Basic knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, plumbing and industrial systems.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, repair and improve plant mechanical equipment.
• Perform welding tasks including overhead Stick/Mig welding.
• Maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems in an industrial setting.
• Install modifications to existing equipment as required.
• Work in a team-oriented facility and support process improvements.
• Perform administrative tasks as assigned.
