Job summary

Haydon Corporation in Stow, OH is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to troubleshoot and repair industrial machinery on a weekend shift (Fri-Sun, 5:00 PM–5:30 AM). The role includes preventive maintenance, equipment inspections, and collaborating with maintenance leadership.

You will operate hand and power tools, read manuals, and support changeovers. A minimum of 6+ years in manufacturing equipment repair, experience with presses and mills, hydraulics, PLC basics, and basic computer skills are

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical problems.
• Communicate daily with supervisor and leadership about assignments and machine status.
• Provide regular updates on machine conditions and maintenance progress.
• Inspect A/C motors, gearboxes, presses, welders, and roll forming equipment.
• Support changeover processes for welders, mills, and other equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance on machines.
• Suggest improvements to the preventive maintenance schedule.
• Provide updates to prevent downtime.
• Replace worn parts and fluids as needed.
• Test and adjust components for proper operation.
• Maintain records of repairs and maintenance.
• Identify critical spares and consumables needed.
• Conduct regular machine inspections following SOPs.
• Consult manuals and seek clarification for proper operation.
• Monitor production line efficiency and address issues with operations teams.
• Provide timely updates to leadership.
• Collaborate with leadership to align tasks with skills.
• Proficiency with hand and power tools.
• General maintenance on buildings as assigned.
• Basic understanding of HMI to assist in troubleshooting.
• Operate material handling equipment including propane forklifts.
• Maintain 5S cleanliness for a safe workspace.
• Support continuous improvement activities.
• Assist with on-the-job training for team members.
• Be a collaborative team player and assist colleagues as needed.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Diagnose and repair mechanical problems.
• Communicate daily with your direct supervisor and maintenance leadership regarding your assignments and the current statuses of machines.
• Provide regular and consistent updates on machine conditions, maintenance progress, and any issues that may impact production.
• Inspect A/C motors, gearboxes, presses, resistance welders, and other roll forming equipment.
• Support changeover process for welders, mills, secondary punch machines, and specifically to California rooftop press.
• Perform preventive maintenance on machines.
• Suggest improvements and enhancements to the preventive maintenance schedule for machines.
• Provide timely updates on scheduled preventive maintenance activities to avoid major downtime.
• Replace worn parts and fluids as needed.
• Test and adjust components to ensure proper operation.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance.
• Identify critical spares and consumable parts that need to be purchased.
• Conduct regular inspections of machines, following standard operating procedures (SOP), and instructions.
• Consult manuals and seek clarification when necessary to ensure proper operation and maintenance of machines.
• Continuously monitor production line efficiency. Promptly engage with the operations and production teams to address and resolve issues that require attention.
• Respond promptly to requests and inquiries from your maintenance leadership regarding production lines and any issues on the line.
• Ensure timely communication is provided to prevent misunderstandings and minimize any machine downtime.
• Prepare and provide reports and updates as required by your leader and management. Share insights and information relevant to machine performance and maintenance activities.
• Collaborate with your leadership to understand and execute assignments that align with your skillset and expertise. Report on the progress of assigned tasks and responsibilities.
• Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
• Perform general maintenance work on buildings as assigned.
• Have basic understanding of Human Machine Interface (HMI) to assist and help with troubleshooting.
• Ability to operate material handling equipment including propane forklifts.
• Maintain cleanliness of area according to 5S principles to provide a safe and effective working space.
• Support and provides input for continuous improvement activities.
• Support with on-the-job training for other team members of the maintenance team.
• Act as a team player within the maintenance team. Offers support, guidance, and assistance to your colleagues when they require help with maintenance tasks.
• Support in all areas as needed and requested by supervisor or another member of the management team.

• Knowledge of PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), basic understanding of function and operation.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment and ensure accuracy.
• Demonstrates ability to work in team, treat colleagues with respect and has a high level of accountability / punctuality.
• Proven record of strong attendance.
• Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
• Must be able to read and write.
• Must have basic computer skills and be proficient in Microsoft software (i.e. Excel, Outlook, etc.
