Job summary

Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for its Monticello, MS containerboard facility. This highly skilled hourly role focuses on preventative and corrective maintenance to boost uptime and reliability, while minimizing unplanned downtime. The regular schedule is 7:00 am-3:30 pm, Monday-Friday, with potential overtime and on-call duties.

The starting pay is $33.51 per hour, based on experience. The team emphasizes safety and adherence to environmental guidelines as essential.

Qualifications

4+ years experience as a millwright, mechanic, machinist, or welder in industrial/mfg/military settings.
Experience with preventive and corrective maintenance to improve uptime.

Responsibilities

Align pumps and gearboxes with precision.
Lead or assist machining with small parts on lathe, key seater, and milling machine.
Lead or assist welding and fabricate structural pipes and repairs.
Replace mechanical components: pumps, gearboxes, cylinders, rolls, valves.
Inspect machinery to prevent unplanned downtime.
Follow plant safety and environmental guidelines.
Read blueprints, P&IDs, and schematics; interpret technical drawings.
Use light rigging: chains, chokers, slings, and slings, beam clamps.
Troubleshoot bearings, chains, sprockets, gearboxes, conveyors.
Work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems; use computer for records.
