Job description

RDS of Virginia, LLC is a well-established company specializing in recycling, processing, and marketing of materials. Operating five facilities across three states, RDS serves numerous companies and households, committed to environmental sustainability.

Report to:

The maintenance/mechanic Tech works under the supervision of the General Manager.

Maintenance Mechanic Job Responsibilities:

The maintenance mechanic oversees the entire facility's operations, repairs, preventative maintenance, and special projects. Responsibilities include maintaining heavy equipment such as balers, sort lines, loaders, and forklifts, performing scheduled PMs, minor repairs, inspecting the building, grounds, and equipment. Works under the supervision of the General Manager.

  • Handles repairs and maintenance
  • Responds to service requests and repairs products
  • Installs equipment and appliances
  • Follows building codes and safety regulations
  • Keeps maintenance logs and writes reports
  • Reports issues to management
  • Responds promptly to repair requests
  • Follows instructions from management
  • Collaborates with team and contractors
  • Reads manuals, blueprints, and instructions
  • Uses tools including power, hand, electric, and plumbing tools
Benefits:

Full-Time hourly position (36-40 hours/week), non-exempt, Monday-Friday with occasional Saturdays. Benefits after 60-day probation include health insurance, PTO, life insurance, telemedicine, and certification reimbursements.

Required Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Learn and use Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), preferably certified
  • Attend morning meetings with PPE and tools, communicate issues
  • Daily inspection of equipment and review of inspection forms
  • Perform MIG welding and fabrication
  • Maintain daily maintenance logs
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Ensure compliance with safety and OSHA regulations
  • Manage service cycles and maintenance records
  • Manage time effectively and complete assigned tasks
  • Order and document spare parts
  • Ensure pre-run inspections and maintenance are completed by operators
  • Report damages and repairs to management
  • Use and maintain tools and equipment properly
  • Take on additional tasks as needed
  • Experience in changing tires, replacing drums & brakes, repairing trailers and chassis
  • Perform preventive maintenance on vehicles and machinery

  • Ensure workplace safety and policy adherence
  • Enhance team productivity and promote collaboration
  • Resolve conflicts diplomatically and document issues
