Job description

Amentum is seeking an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic III - HVAC to join our Operations & Maintenance Team.

This position provides an intermediate level of expertise in responding to work orders, troubleshooting, and repairing fixtures and systems in a manufacturing environment. Working under minimal supervision as part of a self-directed team, this multi-craft role may include machine repairs, general non-licensed maintenance, and support for licensed trades. It requires a good working knowledge of equipment related to maintenance and operations, and the ability to work within machine tolerances. Basic maintenance tasks such as carpentry, painting, and sheet metal work may also be required.

The Industrial Maintenance Mechanic III - HVAC must identify and correct safety issues and perform independent equipment evaluations to prevent failures. General maintenance of equipment is also part of the role.

Compensation & Benefits

1st Shift: Sunday-Wednesday, 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM (shift times may vary based on business needs).

Hiring hourly range: $25/hr, with the exact rate determined by education, experience, skills, and market factors.

Responsibilities

• Perform planned maintenance on building equipment, responding to customer needs.
• Troubleshoot mechanical equipment such as pumps, hydraulic systems, vacuum systems, water systems, and gas distribution systems to minimize downtime.
• Conduct preventative maintenance inspections.
• Develop and implement maintenance procedures, estimate jobs, and manage spare parts inventory.
• Assist with installing and inspecting new equipment and supporting installation work.
• Support project and renovation work with contractors, vendors, and engineers.
• Ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory standards.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance using the CMMS.
• Respond to work orders, ensuring compliance and quality service.
• Recommend improvements to maintenance methods and equipment performance.
• Follow safety guidelines, including hazard analysis and lockout/tagout procedures, and wear PPE.
• Operate diagnostic tools and equipment to improve energy efficiency.
• Use various tools and hardware to perform tasks.
• Maintain a flexible schedule to meet operational needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least three years of maintenance experience in HVAC, mechanical repair, or automotive repair, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to work at heights up to 30 feet or higher using aerial lifts.
• Willingness to work overtime, holidays, and weekends as needed.
• Additional licensing may be required by state regulations.
