Industrial Maintenance Mechanic (2nd Shift 2:15pm - 10:30pm / 3rd shift 10:15pm - 6:30am) (Manufacturing)

Shift: TBD

Pay: $30.75 - $37.35

Shift Differential: $0.40 (2:15pm – 10:15pm) / $0.45 (10:15pm – 6:15am)

The Kankakee Flooring Plant team is hiring a Maintenance Mechanic in Kankakee, IL. The role involves repairing, troubleshooting, and maintaining plant machinery, property, and equipment. The Maintenance Mechanic reports to the Maintenance Manager.

Job Duties:
  1. Support the preventive maintenance program to reduce unscheduled downtime.
  2. Analyze problems and interpret technical information to perform repairs (troubleshooting equipment issues).
  3. Inspect, operate, and test machinery to diagnose malfunctions and validate repairs.
  4. Follow all safety policies, including safety rules, procedures, Lock-Out/Tag-out, GMPs, personal safety standards, and OSHA standards.
  5. Complete work orders promptly, maintain detailed records, logs, and communicate effectively across departments.
  6. Perform repairs and maintenance efficiently to ensure high equipment performance and safety with minimal downtime.
  7. Assist with equipment changeovers and line startups, troubleshooting as needed.
Job Qualifications:
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years in an industrial setting.
  • Education: High school diploma or GED.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot, repair equipment, ensure safety compliance, document work, support changeovers, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Physical Demands:
  • Frequently push, pull, carry, and lift 20-50 lbs.
  • Occasionally walk, stand, stretch, bend, stoop, twist, reach, grasp, and perform repetitive movements.
  • Regularly talk, hear, read, and write.
  • Work in moderate noise levels (up to 83 decibels).
