Job summary

Haydon is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic (Second Shift) to diagnose and repair mechanical problems on manufacturing equipment in our facility in California. You will communicate with supervisors, monitor machine condition, and contribute to continuous improvement of maintenance programs.

Responsibilities include inspecting motors, gearboxes, presses, welders, supporting changeovers, and ensuring safety and 5S standards while maintaining detailed maintenance records.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of repairing/maintaining manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience with presses and mills; welding repairs.
  • Basic understanding of PLCs and hydraulic systems.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools; ability to read manuals.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical problems on manufacturing equipment.
  • Provide regular updates to supervisor on machine conditions and maintenance progress.
  • Inspect and maintain A/C motors, gearboxes, presses, welders, and roll forming equipment.
  • Support changeovers for welders, mills, and related equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and adjust schedules to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance and order critical spares.

If you thrive in environments where you are able maintain and troubleshoot industrial machinery, our Maintenance Mechanic role might be the perfect fit for you!Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:• Diagnose and repair mechanical problems.• Communicate daily with your direct supervisor and maintenance leadership regardingyour assignments and the current statuses of machines.• Provide regular and consistent updates on machine conditions, maintenance progress,and any issues that may impact production.• Inspect A/C motors, gearboxes, presses, resistance welders, and other roll formingequipment.• Support changeover process for welders, mills, secondary punch machines, andspecifically to California rooftop press.• Perform preventive maintenance on machines.• Suggest improvements and enhancements to the preventive maintenance schedule formachines.• Provide timely updates on scheduled preventive maintenance activities to avoid majordowntime.• Replace worn parts and fluids as needed.• Test and adjust components to ensure proper operation.• Maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance.• Identify critical spares and consumable parts that need to be purchased.• Conduct regular inspections of machines, following standard operating procedures(SOP), and instructions.• Consult manuals and seek clarification when necessary to ensure proper operation andmaintenance of machines.• Continuously monitor production line efficiency. Promptly engage with the operationsand production teams to address and resolve issues that require attention.• Respond promptly to requests and inquiries from your maintenance leadershipregarding production lines and any issues on the line.• Ensure timely communication is provided to prevent misunderstandings and minimizeany machine downtime.• Prepare and provide reports and updates as required by your leader and management.Share insights and information relevant to machine performance and maintenanceactivities.• Collaborate with your leadership to understand and execute assignments that align withyour skillset and expertise. Report on the progress of assigned tasks and responsibilities.• Proficiency in using hand and power tools.• Perform general maintenance work on buildings as assigned.• Have basic understanding of Human Machine Interface (HMI) to assist and help withtroubleshooting.• Ability to operate material handling equipment including propane forklifts.• Maintain cleanliness of area according to 5S principles to provide a safe and effectiveworking space.• Support and provides input for continuous improvement activities.• Support with on-the-job training for other team members of the maintenance team.• Act as a team player within the maintenance team.
