Job summary

PPG is seeking an experienced Industrial Maintenance Mechanic for the Barberton/Norton area. Starting pay is $34.80 per hour with a $1,000 sign‑on bonus ($500 after 90 days, $500 after 180 days) and a $1,000 retention bonus after one year.

Shifts include 2nd (3:00 pm–11:00 pm) and 3rd (11:00 pm–7:00 am), with overtime based on business needs. You will repair, modify and install equipment, perform preventative maintenance, and troubleshoot complex systems while following 5-S standards to improve

Qualifications

Five years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in a chemical facility.
Experience in pump and gearbox rebuilds.
HVAC or electrical experience strongly preferred.
Ability to read, interpret and understand technical documents/manuals and CAD drawings of plant equipment.
Must be able to wear PPE including a respirator.
Ability to work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

Repair, modify and install equipment or machinery to maintain and operate the facility.
Diagnose problems and replace or repair parts for sophisticated equipment building systems.
Perform preventative maintenance on belts, piping, filters, mixers, valves, bearings, motors, gear boxes, dies, extruders, feeders, rolls, drive chains, classifiers, mills, and pumps.
Work in confined spaces, elevated platforms, ladders, scaffolding and roofs.
Troubleshoot equipment and test to prevent issues.
Promote 5-S standards for efficiency, cleanliness and safety.
Maintain records and reports as required.
Work from technical documents, blueprints and schematics.
Observe production machines for malfunctions in assigned areas.
Basic welding and fabrication.
