Job summary

International Wire Group in Rome, NY is seeking an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic on 2nd and 3rd shifts to keep production running efficiently. This hands-on role involves troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining industrial machinery, supporting preventive maintenance, and responding quickly to equipment issues.

Qualified candidates have 3+ years of maintenance experience, an associate degree in a related field or equivalent hands-on experience, and knowledge of OSHA safety requirements.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of relevant maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Associate degree in industrial maintenance, mechanical technology, electrical technology, or related field preferred.
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing mechanical equipment and industrial machinery.
• Experience completing electrical and mechanical repairs.
• Knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance practices.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance manuals, blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and manufacturer documentation.
• Knowledge of root-cause analysis and structured troubleshooting methods.
• Familiarity with 5S, Lean manufacturing, and continuous-improvement practices.
• Working knowledge of OSHA safety requirements, including PPE, energy control, confined-space safety, chemical safety, and fall protection.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial machinery and manufacturing equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical malfunctions and determine the appropriate corrective action.
• Disassemble, repair, and reassemble machinery and equipment.
• Overhaul gearboxes and replace bearings, bushings, and other components.
• Complete electrical repairs and troubleshooting within training and experience level.
• Support preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
• Complete work orders accurately, safely, and within timelines.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime and restore production.
