Job summary

CMC is a Fortune 500 company leading in steel, construction reinforcement and ground stabilization. We seek a maintenance technician in Sayreville, NJ to monitor, inspect and repair heavy industrial equipment across our facilities, from cranes to shop machinery, with emphasis on safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• Able to work outside under all weather conditions.
• Welding skills preferred.
• Able to read technical documents and service manuals, write clearly.
• Both mechanically and electrically inclined with experience in both areas.
• Experience servicing and repairing industrial equipment.
• Follow OSHA, EPA, and company safety policies, rules, and regulations.
• Minimum 4 years preferred in a heavy industrial environment.
• Strong work ethic and commitment to safe habits.
• Specific knowledge of hydraulics a plus.
• Ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment, pay attention to detail, and find root causes for issues.
• Proficient with hand tools, power tools and precision tools for repair and maintenance.
• Work on rotating shifts with some overtime required.
• Able to work overtime as business requires.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders and steps, and work outside when needed.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and inspect equipment for defects.
• Participate in safety programs and uphold the safety culture.
• Perform additional duties as needed.
• Perform repairs safely using hand, power, and precision tools at varying heights or conditions.
• Perform building maintenance as required.
• Purchase supplies and parts for repair and track requisitions.
• Cross-train as required.
• Attend extensive training regarding applicable equipment.
• Maintain housekeeping and keep tools in good condition.
• Perform predictive, preventive and corrective maintenance; document activities.
• Repair and maintain shop machinery and equipment including cranes, shears, benders, welders.
• Work with other technicians on job orders and troubleshooting.

What You’ll Do

• Effectively monitor and inspect equipment for defects

• Perform building maintenance as required
• Purchase supplies and parts for repair, track purchase requisitions when necessary

• Attend extensive training regarding applicable equipment
• Maintain good housekeeping, keeping equipment and work area clean; keep tools in good working condition
• Perform predictive, preventive and corrective maintenance; use computer systems and programs for documentation of maintenance and safety activities; record time entry, notifications, work orders, corrective actions/comments
• Repair and maintain shop machinery and mechanical equipment including overhead cranes, shears, benders, threaders, forges, induction heaters and welders
• Work with other technicians on job orders and troubleshooting
