Veolia Group is seeking a temporary maintenance technician for a 1-week contract in Phoenix, AZ. The role focuses on field service for filtration and pumping systems within water treatment operations.

You will diagnose equipment, perform preventive and corrective maintenance, and ensure safety compliance under LOTO and OSHA requirements. This position offers rapid onboarding and hands-on problem solving on critical infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

  • Technical trade certification in industrial mechanics preferred.
  • Minimum 3–5 years' hands-on industrial maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting and diagnosing filtration and separation machinery to locate root causes.
  • Monitor system performance with SCADA, gauges, meters, and control panels.
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on pumps, valves, and filtration arrays.
  • Repair and replace worn mechanical parts such as seals and bearings.
  • Ensure compliance with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and OSHA safety standards.
  • Maintain electronic logs of work orders and repairs.
  • Verify repaired equipment meets discharge parameter limits.

Position Type: Temporary / Short-Term Contract
Duration: 1 Week

This is a focused, 1-week contract position designed for immediate support on a critical project.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshooting & Diagnostics
    • Inspect and test filtration and separation machinery to locate the root cause of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, or basic electrical issues.
    • Monitor system performance using SCADA interfaces, gauges, meters, and control panels to spot early signs of equipment failure.
    • Analyze historical data and operational trends to predict and prevent unexpected filtration unit shutdowns.
  • Maintenance & Repair
    • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on pumps, blowers, valves, actuators, chemical feed systems, and complex filtration arrays.
    • Rebuild, align, and replace worn or defective mechanical parts, seals, bearings, impellers, and filter modules.
    • Clean, descale, and flush filtration units, tanks, and piping networks according to strict technical schedules.
  • Compliance & Safety
    • Adhere strictly to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space entry protocols, and OSHA safety standards when working near high-voltage lines and biological hazards.
    • Maintain accurate electronic logs of completed work orders, parts usage, and equipment repair history.
    • Ensure all repaired or adjusted filtration equipment meets Clean Water Act and NPDES discharge parameter limits.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Deep mechanical aptitude with pumps, valves, piping, gearboxes, and automated filtration systems
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and equipment manuals
  • Working knowledge of basic electrical controls, motors, and instrumentation (480V 3-phase systems, VFDs, and sensors)
  • Competency using hand tools, precision measuring instruments (calipers, dial indicators), and power tools

Education & Experience:

  • Education
    • High school diploma or GED required
    • Technical trade school certification in industrial mechanics, mechatronics, or a related field is preferred
  • Experience
    • Minimum of 3–5 years of hands-on industrial mechanical maintenance experience, preferably within a water/wastewater treatment plant or heavy industrial processing facility required

Working Environment:

  • Ability to lift up to 50–100 pounds
  • Ability to work in tight or confined spaces
  • Work takes place in an industrial environment with exposure to outdoor weather, noise, and wastewater treatment processes
  • Availability to participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours plant emergencies
