Job summary

Universal Ingredients is seeking an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic in Grandview, WA. The role focuses on maintaining, repairing, and replacing plant equipment to restore operations quickly and safely.

You will diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control issues, perform preventive maintenance, and collaborate with the maintenance team to minimize downtime while following safety procedures and site standards.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a maintenance mechanic/technician role in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read blueprints & schematics.
• Strong general mechanical skills and troubleshooting ability.
• Knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems and their operation, ability to troubleshoot, operate and repair.
• Knowledge of boilers and their operation, ability to troubleshoot, operate and repair.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the maintenance team to prioritize and coordinate work orders.
• Reads and interprets equipment manuals, schematics, and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
• Ability to perform root cause analysis and diagnose equipment to identify malfunctions and opportunities for process improvements and recommendations to enhance equipment performance.
• Will use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
• Maintain plant safety, housekeeping standards, and quality checks within the manufacturing environment, and keep the shop and all major maintenance areas neat and safe.
• Follows lock out/Tag out practices and policy’s
• Assist Maintenance Supervisor with special projects
• W orks closely with production to report on machine break and estimate repair time.
• Performs electrical troubleshooting and repair on various equipment and building maintenance.
• Ability to safely operate forklift and lifts.
• Other duties as assigned

• Hours: 40+/week: Hourly

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Industrial Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for all maintenance functions of the facility and equipment when the facility is in operation. He/ She responds to equipment problems with a focus on bringing the plant back to operational status as quickly and safely as possible. The Industrial Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, repairing or replacing equipment such as pumps, seals, gear boxes, chains, bearings, conveyors, augers etc. Troubleshooting malfunctions or breakdowns with mechanical, electrical & electrical controls, pneumatics, and hydraulics. The Industrial Maintenance Mechanic works closely with the Maintenance Supervisor/Manager to find solutions to plant breakdowns and should keep his/her supervisor/manager informed of all issues related to the job function.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

WORK EXPERIENCE & PERSONAL SKILL REQUIREMENTS

• Shop Experience (welding, mig/tig sanitary, fabrication layout and design)
• Strong general mechanical skills with the ability to troubleshoot.
• Knowledge processing equipment and the entire process and flow of plant operations
• Knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems and their operation, ability to troubleshoot, operate and repair
• Knowledge of boilers and their operation, ability to troubleshoot, operate and repair
• Knowledge of water softeners, testing practices and their operation
• Able to read and interpret blueprints & schematics
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical & controls
• Ability to troubleshoot pneumatics & hydraulics
• Previous experience with a CMMS is a plus
• Ability to successfully multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to ensure proper communication with the plant and management personnel.
