Job summary

GAF Materials Corp in Baltimore seeks an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic for our plant. The role requires at least 3 years of maintenance experience, welding and cutting, pneumatics, and mechanical drives on high-speed production lines. Electrical background is a plus.

The candidate will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain equipment, operate lift trucks and cranes, and document all work. A HS diploma is required with preferred technical training or certifications.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of industrial maintenance experience in a high-speed production line environment.
• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Preferred: Technical school degree, vocational diploma, or completed apprenticeship in Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Technology, or a related field.
• Relevant trade certifications: Welding Certification, Crane/Rigging Certification, Forklift Operator License, or Journeyman Electrical license.

Responsibilities

• Basic understanding of plant electrical systems, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, conveyors, belts and splices, bearings, and mechanical drives.
• Welding and cutting as required using oxygen‑acetylene torches and electric arc welding equipment.
• Perform maintenance using hand tools and power tools such as impact wrenches, power saws, drills, sledge hammers, and pry bars.
• Replace electric motors, switches, and wires as required.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and operate machine equipment.
• Perform carpentry and plumbing work when needed.
• Re‑knife cutting cylinders as required.
• Operate lift truck to unload trucks and perform maintenance work.
• Operate crane and practice safe rigging.
• Perform preventative maintenance work and document work done.
• Troubleshoot equipment to restore service.
• Maintain housekeeping of tools and work area.
• Perform other duties as directed.

Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills in these areas are also required. A strong electrical background is a plus.

Base Hourly Rate: $39.62. Base salary and/or rate of pay ranges listed are exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Individual compensation offers are determined based on geographic location, relevant candidate experience and skill, education, and qualifications.
