Job summary

Sunshine Minting, Inc. seeks a Maintenance Manager to lead the Maintenance Department and ensure peak operating condition of all equipment used in metal fabrication.

You will be an active member of our Production Managerial Team, responsible for safe functioning of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and electronic systems across furnaces, casters, rolling mills, extrusion, blanking and coining presses. Bachelor’s degree plus 7+ years in industrial maintenance with 2+ years supervisory experience

• Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years maintenance experience in industrial manufacturing, with 2+ years in a supervisory role.
• Strong leadership to develop and train maintenance staff on new techniques.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing and ISO 9000 environments.

Responsibilities

• Maximize machine productivity and uptime through proactive, predictive, and preventative maintenance processes.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and hydraulic equipment problems with strong analytical skills.
• Hold staff accountable and ensure assignments are completed correctly and on time.
• Coach, mentor and develop maintenance staff on new techniques and procedures.
• Maintain and optimize the Maintenance Management System for inventory, PM scheduling and work-ticket tracking.
• Ensure adherence to OSHA and environmental regulations and permitting.
• Foster a cooperative, team-based relationship with production operations and communicate clear expectations.
• Travel between Coeur d’Alene, Idaho and Las Vegas, Nevada up to 25%.
• Perform additional duties as required.

The Maintenance Manager will provide leadership to the Maintenance Department.This includes ensuring that all equipment is in peak operating condition and participating as an active member of our Production Managerial Team.The Maintenance Manager is responsible and accountable for, but not limited to, the proper and safe functioning of all mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and electronic equipment used in metal fabrication such as furnaces and casters, rolling mills and extrusion, blanking and coining presses.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Will maximize machine productivity and uptime through the development of proactive, predictive, and preventative maintenance processes.
• Will have above average critical thinking skills related to troubleshooting and correcting mechanical, electrical and hydraulic equipment problems.
• Will hold staff accountable and ensure that all assignments are completed correctly and in a timely manner.
• Will use continuous coaching, mentoring, and leadership to develop and train maintenance staff to new or updated maintenance techniques and procedures.
• Will further develop and maintain SMI’s Maintenance Management System to optimize maintenance inventory levels, parts purchasing, daily reports on PM scheduling and work-ticket tracking.
• Will develop and/or verify adherence to all applicable Federal, State or Local laws and regulations including OSHA and environmental permitting.
• Will have proven experience developing and communicating clear staff expectations and holding employees accountable to maintaining a cooperative/team-based relationship with production operations.
• Must be able to travel between manufacturing plants – Coeur d’Alene, Idaho and Las Vegas, Nevada – as required and necessary (25%).
• Must be able to complete additional duties that may be assigned as required and necessary.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Must be proficient with computers and software products.
• Must be able to prioritize, direct and assign projects to meet demands of organization.
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must have advanced mechanical and hydraulic aptitude.
• Must have working knowledge of induction furnaces.
• Must have Lean Manufacturing and ISO 9000 experience.
• PLC programming knowledge preferred.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 7 years maintenance work experience in an industrial manufacturing environment with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.

As a Maintenance Manager an employee will work in a cool to extremely hot environment, dependent upon project, outdoor work may be performed. There is exposure to fuels, oils, cleaning solvents and fumes from machinery. Safety glasses must be worn at all times while in the Maintenance area and while working on machinery. The noise level in the work environment varies depending upon project, hearing protection is required. Additional safety equipment may be required.
