Poly-America, L.P. in Grand Prairie, TX, seeks a Maintenance Engineer to join our engineering team focused on electrical and automation systems across our plastics manufacturing lines.

Candidates should have 3+ years of hands-on experience with PLCs, VFDs, instrumentation, and AutoCAD schematics, and the ability to manage multiple projects while supporting downtime resolution on the factory floor.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
  • 3+ years troubleshooting or engineering experience with PLCs, 3-phase power, instrumentation, and VFDs.
  • Ability to create electrical schematics with AutoCAD and manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

  • Provide troubleshooting expertise to maintenance personnel on electrical/electronic systems.
  • Identify opportunities to improve safety, reliability, and operability; lead small projects end-to-end.
  • Specify components to optimize standardization and reliability.
  • Support maintenance electrician training and program execution.
  • Oversee machine control software applications and downtime response.

Overview

Poly-America, L.P. is currently seeking an Maintenance Engineer to join our engineering team. Poly-America produces several lines of polyethylene products including high quality trash bags, construction and agricultural films.

Dedicated to providing the highest quality polyethylene products, our team of chemical, mechanical, electrical and process engineers is at the forefront of modern plastics technology. The company’s innovative design team is responsible for several technological breakthroughs in blown-film extrusion and bag making. We also maintain one of the most sophisticated on-site labs in the plastics industry.

Responsibilities

The engineer will support maintenance groups on a variety of electrical and electronic systems for a range of manufacturing machinery and related support equipment:

  • Provide troubleshooting expertise to maintenance personnel.
  • Identify opportunities for improvements for safety, maintainability, reliability, and operability and execute small projects to achieve these goals from conception through installation and commissioning.
  • Specify electrical and components to optimize standardization and reliability.
  • Assist in improving and executing the maintenance electrician training program.
  • Manage machine control software applications.
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering Technology.
  • At least three years of hands-on experience performing troubleshooting or engineering related functions with the following:
    • PLC based control systems
    • Three phase power distribution systems.
    • Industrial instrumentation
    • Variable Frequency Drives and induction motors.
  • Skill with creating electrical schematics with AutoCAD.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects while being available to assist maintenance personnel with factory floor downtime issues.
  • The ability to self-motivate and complete independent assignments or components of group projects in a timely manner.
  • The aptitude and desire to be a good student of Poly-America processes, equipment, and procedures.

Successfully passing adrug screenis required for this position.
