Job summary

Clariant Corporation is seeking a Chemist in Mt. Holly, NC to join our Industrial Applications team. The role focuses on laboratory testing, application development, and technical support for customers in industrial lubricants and related formulations.

You will translate Customer requirements into lab projects, optimize formulations, and deliver data-driven recommendations in collaboration with Sales, customers, and global R&D teams. On-site work with travel up to 30% is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Chemistry or a related field.
• Minimum two years of hands-on laboratory experience in industrial or applied chemistry; 3–5 years in application development/technical service preferred.
• Experience designing experiments, evaluating formulations, analyzing data, and troubleshooting application challenges; experience with lubricants/additives preferred.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and project management skills; ability to translate customer needs into testing plans.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute lab experiments to evaluate Clariant products for lubricants and related applications.
• Assess formulation stability, compatibility, and performance; optimize existing formulations.
• Benchmark products against competitors and develop supporting technical data.
• Partner with Sales and customers to address technical challenges and support trials.
• Present laboratory findings to customers and internal teams; translate results into recommendations.
• Collaborate with global R&D teams to evaluate new chemistries and regional adaptations.
• Manage multiple technical projects and coordinate with lab staff to meet timelines.
• Analyze data, prepare reports, and contribute to technical literature and product promotion.
• Stay current with industry trends and laboratory method improvements.
