About the Role

Our client, a major distribution and supply chain enterprise, is seeking an Industrial Logistics Engineer to join their operations center in Upington, Northern Cape . This critical role focuses on optimizing the flow of goods, materials, and information throughout the supply chain. You will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and improving logistics systems, warehouse operations, and transportation networks to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service levels. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented engineer to make a significant impact on a vital aspect of our client's business.

Key Responsibilities

Analyze and design efficient warehouse layouts, material handling systems, and storage solutions. Optimize transportation routes, modes, and schedules to reduce costs and transit times. Develop and implement strategies for inventory management and control. Analyze logistics data to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement. Design and implement solutions for order fulfillment processes. Collaborate with operations, procurement, and transportation teams to ensure seamless logistics operations. Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for logistics and warehousing activities. Utilize simulation and modeling tools to test and evaluate different logistics scenarios. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices in logistics and warehousing. Monitor logistics performance and implement corrective actions to meet operational goals.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial engineering or logistics engineering, with a focus on supply chain optimization. Proven experience in warehouse design, inventory management, and transportation logistics. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data. Proficiency in logistics and supply chain software (e.g., WMS, TMS) and Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with simulation software (e.g., AnyLogic, Arena) is a plus. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with operational teams. Understanding of lean principles applied to logistics and warehousing. Ability to manage projects and implement operational changes. Knowledge of relevant transportation and customs regulations.
