Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan Inc. in Arizona is seeking a skilled Lineman/Apprentice to help construct and maintain high and low voltage power lines and related equipment at our Globe-Miami area operations.

The role requires practical experience or an approved apprenticeship, with opportunities to mentor peers and progress within a 24/7 operating environment. Ideal candidates will hold an approved Lineman Apprentice program, or an Associate's degree and two years in distribution, with a valid driver's

Qualifications

• Completion of an approved Lineman Apprentice program or four years of Lineman experience.
• Associate's degree or trade school certification in a related field with two years in distribution, construction, maintenance and repair.
• Valid state driver’s license and ability to obtain CDL within 90 days of hire.
• Knowledge of rubber gloving, sticking and livewire maintenance.
• Proficiency in lock out tag out (LOTO) procedures.
• Ability to work from a bucket for long periods.
• Proven ability to read technical manuals, prints and schematics for troubleshooting.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of NFPA-70E arc flash electrical safety standards.
• Completion of Line of Progression requirements or demonstrated aptitude with safety assessments.

Responsibilities

• Construct and maintain high and low voltage power transmission lines and related structures.
• Extend and cut back power lines for site, mine, and substations.
• Test, frame, and set poles; string lines; install cross arms and anchors; replace switches.
• Perform power line and system preventative maintenance.
• Troubleshoot system faults on power distribution lines.
• Construct and maintain high/low voltage lines and structures.
• May install and maintain substations, transformers, lighting, and metering.
• Mentor or train other electrical workers and fill-in supervision as needed.
• May perform groundman duties and assist with materials and equipment.
• Perform other duties as required.
