Job summary

SMS group is seeking a Laborer to provide general shop support across our metal fabrication and testing facilities in the United States. You will perform material handling, shipping support, and heavy equipment operation while upholding safety and quality standards.

The successful candidate will have basic mechanical aptitude, the ability to work with hand and power tools, and a commitment to teamwork and reliability in a fast-paced shop environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous industrial/manual labor experience is preferred.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform general labor duties safely and efficiently with minimal supervision.
• Assist with material handling, loading, unloading, staging, and moving materials.
• Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, overhead cranes, and rigging equipment as required.
• Perform crane operations and proper rigging to move equipment and materials.
• Prepare materials for shipment, including staging, banding, shrink wrapping, and securing loads.
• Maintain shop organization and proper storage of materials.
• Use hand and power tools effectively to complete tasks.
• Take basic measurements with tape measures, calipers, or micrometers as needed.
• Assist with minor repairs and general maintenance throughout the facility.
• Maintain knowledge of customer equipment and components in the shop.
• Complete daily housekeeping tasks and maintain a clean work area.
