Job summary

The Erie VA Medical Center operates within the Office of Performance and Quality. The Industrial Hygienist will plan and administer environmental and industrial hygiene programs in support of compliance and safety across the facility.

Qualified candidates will have degrees in IH or related fields or ABIH certification, with transcripts available. Expect responsibilities in EMS, compliance, pollution prevention, budgeting and policy development within a federal environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree in industrial hygiene or related science (Transcripts Required)
• Bachelor's degree in engineering/physical science/life science with 12 semester hours in chemistry (including organic) and 18 additional semester hours in chemistry or related fields (Transcripts Required)
• Certification from the Board of Global EHS Credentialing (formerly ABIH)

Responsibilities

• Development, implementation and sustainment of environmental management systems (EMS) with annual compliance audits
• Plan, coordinate and conduct environmental conservation, restoration, compliance and pollution prevention projects
• Management of facility recycling, waste minimization, pollution prevention and sustainment programs
• Coordinate and implement financial and budget activities related to environmental programs
• Develop facility policy and procedures for environmental regulatory compliance and statutory analysis
• Plan and carry out long-term projects addressing environmental compliance requirements

Education

Industrial hygiene/occupational health degree

Engineering/physical/life science degree with chemistry coursework

Board of Global EHS Credentialing (ABIH) certification
