Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in IH/OSH or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years IH experience, preferably in manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of OSHA/NIOSH/ANSI/ACGIH standards and ventilation systems.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and audits US IH programs and policies across facilities.
  • Determines sampling strategy and conducts workplace monitoring per regs/guidance.
  • Manages annual IH surveys, equipment, lab coordination, and reporting.
  • Interprets sampling data and compares to exposure limits (PEL/STEL/TLV).
  • Identifies controls to reduce exposure and assesses new materials for hazards.
  • Maintains IH program knowledge and improves EHS management systems.
  • Develops and delivers IH training to EHS staff and factory employees.
  • All other duties assigned by manager.

Job description

A leading global manufacturer is seeking a Corporate Industrial Hygienist to lead and enhance Industrial Hygiene programs across multiple U.S. manufacturing facilities. This high-impact corporate role offers the opportunity to work with diverse manufacturing processes, influence occupational health initiatives nationwide, and collaborates with EHS professionals across the organization - all with limited travel (approximately 10%) and excellent growth potential. Candidates with Industrial Hygiene experience in a manufacturing environment are encouraged to apply.

This position is responsible for Industrial Hygiene activities in the USA. The role of the Industrial Hygienist is to ensure that all Occupational Health (IH) related programs for their facilities in the USA are implemented and managed to meet regulatory compliance and their best practice guidelines. This is a corporate role that will also be responsible for maintaining and continuously improving environmental, health and safety management systems.

Essential Functions
  • Develops, implements, leads, and audits US IH programs and policies.
  • Determines sampling strategy and conducts workplace monitoring to meet regulatory requirements / guidance, to help ensure that their employees work in a safe environment.
  • Manages the annual IH surveys to be conducted at all their US locations directly by this position, including equipment management, lab coordinator, report writing and employee notifications.
  • Analyzes / interprets sampling data results and compares to establish exposure limits (i.e., PELs, Als, STELs, TLVs, etc.)
  • Identifies and recommends controls to reduce exposure levels to sampling analytes.
  • Assesses new materials coming into the manufacturing environment to determine potential health threats and ensures appropriate precautions are taken.
  • Maintains current understanding of material hazards, regulations and best practice.
  • Develops and conducts training / mentoring of core IH principles to site EHS engineers and factory employees as necessary.
  • All other duties assigned by manager.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Health / Management, or Certification by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene as a Certified Industrial Hygienist. May consider equivalent work experience in lieu of degree.
  • 2+ years of experience in Industrial Hygiene or related field, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, NIOSH, ANSI and ACGIH standards.
  • Knowledge of ventilation systems.
  • Effective communication skills and comfortability providing training for groups of employees and mentorship of IH compliance programs to EHS professionals.
