Job summary

First Point Group is seeking an experienced Industrial Hygienist for a large mining construction project. You will lead IH programs, perform exposure assessments, air and noise monitoring, and work with engineers, contractors, and site leadership to control health risks.

This field role requires outdoors work, field inspections, and preparation of technical reports for project leadership. CIH is highly valued, and applicants should have strong writing and communication skills, plus a valid

Qualifications

• 8+ years of IH experience with bachelor’s degree, or 6+ years with a Master’s in IH or related field.
• Hands-on sampling, exposure assessment and hazard evaluation experience.
• Experience in heavy industrial/mining environments or complex facilities.
• Strong knowledge of occupational exposure limits and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

This is a hands-on field role for an industrial hygiene professional who knows how to identify workplace exposures, perform sampling and monitoring, interpret results, and work directly with engineering, construction, contractors, and project leadership to control occupational health risks.

You will play a key role in protecting the workforce while helping deliver a major mining and processing facility from construction through commissioning and startup.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Lead and support industrial hygiene programs across a large-scale mining and processing construction project.
• Conduct and oversee exposure assessments, air monitoring, noise surveys, chemical exposure evaluations, and workplace sampling.
• Identify occupational health hazards and recommend practical engineering, administrative, and PPE controls.
• Evaluate exposures involving respirable dust, silica, welding fumes, chemicals, noise, and other industrial hazards.
• Integrate industrial hygiene requirements into engineering, construction, commissioning, startup, subcontractor, and operations activities.
• Perform field inspections and work directly with construction crews, supervisors, contractors, and subcontractors.
• Provide technical guidance on risk assessments, hazard assessments, IH plans, procedures, training, and exposure controls.
• Research and interpret applicable OSHA, regulatory, project, and Bechtel ES&H requirements.
• Investigate occupational health incidents and support emergency response activities when required.
• Review project plans and construction activities to identify occupational health risks before they become problems.
• Track exposure data, trends, corrective actions, and overall industrial hygiene performance.
• Prepare clear technical reports, presentations, assessments, and documentation for project leadership and stakeholders.
• Participate in project meetings and provide authoritative IH guidance to engineering, construction, commissioning, and management teams.
• Support the broader ES&H organization when required.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We want a seasoned Industrial Hygienist who is comfortable getting out of the office and into the field.

You should have:

• 8+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 6+ years with a Master's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety & Health, Public Health, Chemistry, Biology, Applied Science, or a related discipline.
• Strong hands-on experience with industrial hygiene sampling, exposure assessment, monitoring, and hazard evaluation.
• Experience working in heavy industrial, mining, construction, manufacturing, energy, chemical processing, refinery, LNG, or similarly complex environments.
• Strong knowledge of occupational exposure limits, IH principles, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Experience developing and implementing industrial hygiene programs and procedures.
• Ability to interpret sampling data and translate technical findings into practical corrective actions.
• Strong technical writing, communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively with engineers, construction teams, contractors, subcontractors, and senior project personnel.
• Ability to work outdoors in challenging high-desert conditions and support extended project shifts.
• Valid driver's license.

HIGHLY VALUED

• Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or equivalent recognized professional certification.
• Experience on major EPC/EPCM, mining, chemical processing, energy, or infrastructure projects.
• Experience supporting large construction sites and contractor workforces.
• Experience with silica, respirable dust, noise, chemical exposure, respiratory protection, and exposure monitoring programs.
• Previous experience working on remote/camp-based projects.
