Job summary

Arcadis is seeking an Industrial Hygiene Specialist to join our Sustainable Operations team in Pittsburgh, PA. This role involves ~75% fieldwork and ~25% office work, focusing on asbestos, lead-based paint, hazardous building materials, indoor air quality, and mold.

You will perform inspections, coordinate with stakeholders, and mentor junior staff. The position requires at least 3 years’ experience, a BS in a science field, and relevant licenses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in a science related discipline or equivalent years of experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in the professional services or consulting business.
• State specific asbestos training and licensure.
• Knowledge of applicable OSHA, EPA, and state regulations for asbestos, etc.

Responsibilities

• Work in a client-focused consulting environment with an emphasis on industrial hygiene, including asbestos, lead-based paint, hazardous building materials management, indoor air quality and mold evaluations, and chemical exposure assessments.
• Perform inspections and surveys for asbestos, lead, mold and water intrusion, indoor air quality, and other regulated building materials.
• Coordinate with agencies, management, staff, and subcontractors to define project scope and schedules.
• Conduct advanced technical surveys and oversee subcontractor work.
• Accurately document field activities using the provided tools.
• Review, interpret, and evaluate field observations and laboratory data.
• Prepare technical memoranda, summary reports, and other client deliverables.
• Receive technical and business mentorship from senior members of the EH&S consulting team.
• Mentor and support junior staff within the Industrial Hygiene group.
