Job summary

Consultants At Greystone Inc. seeks an experienced Industrial HVAC Technician in Toano, VA, to own and maintain the plant's HVAC/R systems. You will manage four Trane chillers and related equipment, troubleshoot controls, and ensure reliability and uptime.

The role requires 3+ years of industrial HVAC/R experience, EPA 608 certification, and the ability to work independently in a hands-on environment. Competitive pay and benefits offered.

Qualifications

  • EPA Section 608 Universal Certification is required.
  • Minimum 3 years of HVAC/R maintenance and troubleshooting experience, preferably industrial or manufacturing.
  • Experience troubleshooting chillers and chilled-water systems.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and technical documentation.
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, and controls troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with motors, pumps, fans, blowers, VFDs, and HVAC controls.
  • Ability to work independently and solve problems.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on industrial HVAC/R systems.
  • Take primary responsibility for the plant's four Trane chillers and associated equipment.
  • Maintain mini-splits, window units, steam heating, blowers, fans, and exhaust systems.
  • Troubleshoot HVAC electrical and controls, including motors, pumps, fans, relays, sensors, VFDs, and control circuits.
  • Read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment manuals, and mechanical documentation.
  • Recover, evacuate, charge, transfer, handle, store, and properly dispose of refrigerants and HVAC-related fluids in accordance with applicable regulations.
  • Remove and replace HVAC/R components and perform refrigerant-system repairs safely.
  • Purchase HVAC/R parts, refrigerants, tools, and materials needed to maintain the plant's equipment.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance and refrigerant records.
  • Work with vendors and contractors when specialized service is required.
  • Identify recurring problems and recommend improvements to reliability, safety, efficiency, and production uptime.
  • Follow OSHA, EPA, environmental, and company safety requirements.

Industrial HVAC Technician

Full-Time | [Toano, VA]

About the Position

We are looking for an experienced Industrial HVAC Technician to take ownership of the heating, cooling, ventilation, and exhaust systems supporting our manufacturing operation.

This is a hands‑on position responsible for four Trane chillers—100‑ton, 60‑ton, and two 50‑ton units—along with numerous mini‑splits and window units, steam heat, blowers and fans, and multiple industrial exhaust systems.

The right candidate will be able to troubleshoot complex HVAC/R systems, make repairs, and identify opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency, and uptime.

What You’ll Do
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on industrial HVAC/R systems.

  • Remove and replace HVAC/R components and perform refrigerant‑system repairs safely.
  • Purchase HVAC/R parts, refrigerants, tools, and materials needed to maintain the plant's equipment.

What We’re Looking For
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • EPA Section 608 Universal Certification — required.
  • Minimum 3 years of HVAC/R maintenance and troubleshooting experience, preferably industrial or manufacturing.

  • Strong mechanical, electrical, and controls troubleshooting skills.

Preferred Experience
  • Trane or other commercial/industrial chillers.

  • Refrigerant recovery/charging and brazing.
  • Industrial HVAC electrical and controls.
  • Manufacturing or industrial maintenance.
Schedule & Availability
  • Work overtime as needed.
  • Participate in a scheduled on‑call rotation.
  • Respond to emergency HVAC/facility maintenance calls.
  • Work occasional weekends, holidays, or other non‑standard hours when required.
  • On‑call and emergency response requirements are shared through a scheduled maintenance rotation.
Compensation & Benefits
  • $30–$40+ per hour based on experience and qualifications.
  • 10 paid holidays from your first day.
