Job summary

Turner Industries is seeking a Grounds Crew - Helper for a position in Decatur, AL. The Helper assists skilled workers across a range of duties, reporting to the Foreman in a non-exempt role. Requirements include high school or equivalent, safety compliance, and the ability to follow procedures.

Drug screening and safety policy acceptance are required. Duties include handling materials, basic maintenance tasks, and support for crane/Rigging activities as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent.
• Preferably six (6) months of experience in specified skill.
• Able to focus on task at hand without being distracted.
• Post offer drug / alcohol screen, physical evaluation, and signed acceptance of Turner Industries Drug, Alcohol and Contraband Policy.
• Comply with company and client job site safety requirements.
• Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace.

Responsibilities

• Read and sign off on JSA prior to starting shift; may perform one or more of the following duties: digs, spreads and levels dirt and gravel, touch up paint, pour and spread concrete, asphalt, gravel or other materials.
• Handle building materials; fix flats and change out tires on trailers and mobile equipment; lifts and carries materials.
• Help with tools and equipment such as welding machine set up, rigging for the crane, tightening headstock, etc.; may be required to operate the crane if certified.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times; perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
• Physical involvement includes climbing ladders, bending, standing for long periods, lifting 30–50 pounds, and working in heat/cold and loud environments.
