Job summary

Energy Systems, a Generac Industrial Energy distributor in Michigan, seeks an Industrial Generator Technician. The role involves servicing generators, troubleshooting EPSS systems, and supporting 24/7 emergency service across the state.

Ideal candidates have 3–4 years of hands-on experience, relevant Generac certification, and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather. High school diploma required; valid driver's license expected.

Qualifications

• 3–4 years servicing and troubleshooting EPSS and Generac Industrial units.
• Generac Industrial certification and related maintenance/troubleshooting competencies.
• Load bank loading and towing certifications required for larger commercial/industrial units.
• Must be able to work independently and in varying outdoor weather conditions.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Working knowledge of mechanical design, AC and DC circuitry, power generation, wiring schematics, connection diagrams, and control systems


• Understand components and operation of an electrical distribution and transfer switch system


• Excellent troubleshooting skills, the ability to make independent decisions, and work with minimal supervision, in occasionally adverse outdoor weather conditions.


• Experienced in Electronics, Electromechanical Technology


• Knowledge of power generation; light tower, products


• Spark Ignited and Compression ignition internal combustion engine knowledge

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma


• Experience: 3-4 years servicing and troubleshooting Emergency Power Supply Systems (EPSS), and Generac Industrial certification and related maintenance, startup and troubleshooting competencies, as well as competitive brand industrial repair proficiency. Load bank loading and towing and related certifications are required for larger commercial and industrial units.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is frequently required to use hands to manipulate objects, tools, or controls; and to talk and hear. The employee is regularly required to walk, stoop, crouch, bend and reach above shoulders. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance, waist high, up to 10 feet away. This job's specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be working in the typical conditions of a manufacturing environment, including seasonal variations in temperatures and occasional exposure to manufacturing fumes or byproducts. The employee must comply with the assigned location PPE requirements, including but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, appropriate gloves, clothing, and shields for required tasks, and closed-toed or safety shoes as required by facility safety policies. The employee must be able to work in varying weather conditions including extreme heat, snow, and ice. The employee may be required to obtain a DOT Medical Card and have the ability to drive a heavy-duty truck on a daily basis.
