The Role: Gearbox Mechanic
We're seeking an experienced Gearbox Mechanic to join our team. In this role, you'll apply technical expertise, analytical problem-solving, and attention to detail to repair industrial AC motors, gearboxes, and related equipment while supporting our culture of continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, disassemble, repair, reassemble, and prepare gearbox units for shipment
- Perform complete mechanical rebuilds on gearbox units
- Measure and record mechanical fits and clearances using precision tools (e.g., dial indicators, micrometers)
- Use multi-meters, meggers, and Baker instruments to measure winding resistance, RTD, and heater resistances
- Collect and analyze vibration spectrums using handheld vibration meters
- Perform laser alignments on gearbox units using specialized tools and software
- Participate in daily operational discussions on customer projects
- Review and prepare failure reports
Qualifications & Competencies
- 5+ years of experience with gearboxes and AC/DC motors
- 2+ years of experience coordinating teams
- Strong mechanical and technical skills with the ability to diagnose and repair industrial equipment
- Experience using precision measurement tools and electrical testing instruments
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
- Ability to collaborate with team members and communicate effectively
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry items up to 50 lbs.
