Job summary

OnLogic is seeking a Firmware Engineer to develop and sustain industrial computing products. You will work on ARM firmware, device drivers, and x86 UEFI/BIOS across motherboards and expansion cards, from concept to production.

Join a fast-growing team in Cary, NC, collaboratively solving firmware challenges with cross-disciplinary partners. A BS in CS/EE and 3+ years of ARM/FW experience are required to drive high-quality software and hardware integration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
• Experience leading targeted software / firmware design efforts
• 3+ years of firmware development experience, preferably with ARM SoCs in the industrial PC industry.
• Experience collaborating across mechanical, electrical, firmware, and product testing.
• Embedded firmware and debugging using JTAG-based debuggers and logic analyzers.
• Strong background in software design with C and Assembly.
• Experience with Git and standard software development processes.
• Understanding of ARM or MCU architectures, firmware, and Linux.
• Experience with ARM64 SoCs, including their architecture and operation.
• Experience with device trees in an ARM environment is preferred.
• Engineering aptitude for electronic/electrical systems.
• Ability to understand schematics for software/hardware integration.

Responsibilities

• Identify and document firmware requirements and specifications with product teams.
• Develop firmware/software for ARM SoCs and various MCUs.
• Guide firmware and software development efforts.
• Port and develop Linux device drivers for ARM products.
• Support x86 UEFI customizations.
• Collaborate with external parties in firmware development.
• Build prototypes with manufacturing for evaluation.
• Validate firmware and drivers on prototypes.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes.
• Support certification by managing technical documentation and compliance issues.
• Support SW/FW issues related to sustainability and customer needs.
• Track issues and assist with severity assessments and resolutions.
• Monitor end-customer impact on usability.
