Job summary

Vulcan Elements is seeking a Facilities Manager to lead day-to-day operations at its R&D facility and support the production startup at the new Benson, NC site. You will coordinate building systems, maintenance, and safety, ensuring readiness for 24/7 production and a smooth transition from construction to operations.

The role requires 5+ years of industrial facilities experience, strong project coordination, and effective collaboration with site teams, contractors, and vendors to meet budget

Qualifications

• 5+ years of facilities management experience in industrial/manufacturing environments.
• Experience guiding facilities through construction, commissioning, and operations.
• Knowledge of building systems: HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection.
• Experience managing outside contractors and service vendors.
• Familiarity with OSHA, NFPA and local codes.
• Comfortable operating with ambiguity due to ongoing site development.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day facility operations, including building systems, grounds and upkeep.
• Respond to and troubleshoot facility system failures, coordinating repairs with staff or contractors.
• Coordinate with landlord on parking, outages, and upgrades.
• Budget tracking and managing PM contracts and minor capital purchases.
• Plan and oversee facility upgrades and commissioning for production startup.
• Coordinate with project teams during construction/startup turnover.
