Job description

Industrial Equipment Reliability TechnicianAt ProAmpac’s Elgin, IL facility, your day starts on 1st shift with a quick handoff from the team and a scan of the maintenance queue. A packaging line signals an unexpected fault—within minutes you’re diagnosing a drive issue, reviewing schematics, and getting production back on track. Before lunch, you complete a scheduled PM with precise documentation, then rebuild a gearbox and swap a bearing to prevent future downtime. The afternoon brings a PLC parameter change on a converting machine, a facility task on a chiller, and a final safety walk—because zero harm is the expectation, not the goal.Role SnapshotEmployment: Full-timeLocation: Elgin, ILShift: 1st ShiftCompensation: $35–$42 per hour, depending on experienceWhat You’ll TackleExecute preventive maintenance on production and facility systems; complete all PM documentation accurately and on time.Communicate status, risks, and needs with the Maintenance Lead and Maintenance Manager to keep priorities aligned.Respond quickly to production or technical issues to maximize uptime and throughput.Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic failures.Optimize machine performance and continuously improve PM quality and effectiveness.Tear down and rebuild components including motors, gearboxes, clutches, bearings, and related electrical systems.Perform PMs on facility equipment: pumps, chillers, compressors, power distribution; complete light carpentry, painting, and drywall work as needed.Fabricate and/or design parts to support repairs and improvements.Make PLC and other low-voltage control changes; run diagnostics on production machinery.Install and repair both high- and low-voltage circuits for production lines and facility infrastructure.Champion a safe workplace by following all policies and procedures, and by reporting first-aid incidents, accidents, and hazards immediately. What You Bring10+ years of hands-on industrial maintenance experience.Strong command of PLCs, drives (VFDs), and electrical schematics.Proficiency with test instruments (e.g., multimeters, meggers, oscilloscopes).Solid mechanical and electrical aptitude; skilled with common hand and power tools.Proficiency in core mechanical maintenance and repair practices.Clear, effective English communication skills—reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Why ProAmpacWe’re a global leader in flexible packaging, known for creative solutions, award‑winning innovation, and customer service that sets the bar.
