Job summary

Hormel Foods Corporation is seeking an Industrial Engineer Intern & COOP for Summer 2027 across Austin, MN and additional facilities. You will perform real-world projects mirroring full-time engineers, including ergonomic surveys, operations analysis, AutoCAD layouts, and equipment evaluations.

Expect about 40 hours per week, with competitive pay of $27.50 hourly. Housing assistance, relocation reimbursement, 401(k) with company match, PTO, and professional development opportunities are offered

Qualifications

• Must graduate in August 2027, December 2027, or May 2028 and major in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Technology, Engineering Technology or a related field with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership, persuasive, initiative, analytical, and communication skills are necessary for success in this position.
• Possess a strong work ethic and an entrepreneurial spirit.
• This position will require access to and/or the utilization of a personal motor vehicle to get to and from the workplace.
• Applicants must not now, or at any time in the future, require employer sponsorship for a work visa.
• Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer.

Job Purpose

To gain real world experience by performing the duties of their full-time engineering counterparts, managing projects independently, offering sound technical and engineering advice for facilities performance

Responsibilities

Will work in various departments and throughout the plant to:

Duration

Our summer internship program runs 10-12 weeks and starts in late May and ends in early August.

Co-ops may be available depending on our business needs. The co-op program duration is typically 6-8 months and can run from early January through early August OR late May through early December.

Hours

This is a temporary, full-time, hourly position. Interns can expect to work approximately 40 hours per week and may be eligible for overtime based on business needs.

Competitive hourly pay of $27.50 paid on a weekly basis
