Overview
Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is hiring an Industrial Engineer (Level2) or Principal Industrial Engineer (Level3) for the ElSegundo, CA site. The role is part of the Industrial Engineering team and works closely with other internal organizations.
Responsibilities
- Analyze lead times, queue times, work‐in‐process, cycle times and throughput to meet customer demand most effectively and efficiently.
- Build scalable and sustainable models to optimize product flow while incorporating cost, schedule and resource constraints.
- Develop optimized scheduling tools and align SAP/MRP systems with an executable plan given various capacity constraints.
- Incorporate complex interdependencies within a system to account for the interaction of multiple cost centers, programs, equipment and tools.
- Communicate requirements planning and systems framework with IT, ERP, business analytics and data science teams.
- Work with developers to design an interactive user interface that will be effective at scheduling jobs across cost centers.
- Guide digital transformation efforts to align with sector and enterprise strategies.
- Lead and drive positive change using iterative and agile methodologies.
- Create new metrics and data visualizations to monitor shop floor performance.
- Complete time studies and follow through with action items resulting from the study.
Minimum Qualifications – Level 2
- Bachelor of Science degree with 1 year of Industrial Engineering experience in a manufacturing production environment, OR a Master of Science degree with 0 years of Industrial Engineering experience in a manufacturing production environment.
- Minimum 1 year of experience with data mining, data analysis, or data visualization software applications (e.g., Excel, Tableau).
- Minimum 1 year of experience with EVMS (Earned Value Management System).
- Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret Security Clearance and Special Program Access.
- Ability to travel at least 10% of the time.
Minimum Qualifications – Level 3
- Bachelor of Science degree with 4 years of Industrial Engineering experience in a manufacturing production environment, OR a Master of Science degree with 3 years of Industrial Engineering experience in a manufacturing production environment, OR a PhD degree with 0 years of Industrial Engineering experience in a manufacturing production environment.
- Minimum 1 year of experience with data mining, data analysis, or data visualization software applications (e.g., Excel, Tableau).
- Minimum 1 year of experience with EVMS (Earned Value Management System).
- Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret Security Clearance and Special Program Access.
- Ability to travel at least 10% of the time.
Preferred Qualifications
- STEM degree preferred.
- Experience working with cross‑functional teams in a manufacturing environment.
- At least 2 years of demonstrated experience leading project teams.
- Experience with SQL, VBA, Python or other programming languages.
- Experience with improving manufacturing workflow using optimization, modeling or simulation methods.
- Experience with agile methods of project management or development.
- Strong professional experience designing visualizations in Tableau.
Salary
Primary level: $83,400.00 – $125,200.00 per year. Secondary level: $103,600.00 – $155,400.00 per year. These ranges are a general guideline; actual offers may vary based on scope, responsibilities, experience, education, skills and market conditions.
