Job description

Position Overview

Director, Industrial Engineering 2 – Northrop Grumman Aeronautics System Sector, Palmdale, CA.

Relocation assistance may be available. Clearance required at start: Secret. Travel: Required, 50% of the time.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sourcing key engineering and technical talent to ensure program success.
  • Overseeing integration and utilization of common facilities, capacity analysis, and implementation of improvement initiatives across the program.
  • Co‑ordinating with other functional homerooms and shared service organizations to support continuous improvement of people, products, processes, systems, and services.
  • Ensuring quality, schedule, and cost objectives are met on all assigned projects and tasks.
  • Providing direct supervision and management of employees across technical, manufacturing, and administrative areas.
  • Creating long‑range planning and strategies for the operations team (e.g., staffing forecasting, rate change planning, execution strategy of new initiatives, pull‑ahead strategies, line balancing assessments, EAC/budget forecasting).
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree AND 14+ years in industrial engineering, engineering management, and/or process engineering; OR Master’s degree AND 12+ years in those fields.
  • At least 10+ years of management experience.
  • Experience leading recovery plan/program re‑scheduling.
  • Experience developing and implementing Shop Operating Plans (SOPs).
  • Active DoD Secret clearance and ability to obtain Special Program Access (PAR).
Preferred Qualifications
  • STEM degree.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles and operational efficiencies.
  • Deep knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and other industrial engineering methodologies.
  • Experience executing process standards, risk identification, and mitigation.
  • Track record of achieving manufacturing and operational results and financial outcomes.
  • Excellent communication skills with professional poise and business maturity.
  • Ability to quantify impact and manage cost controls to meet negotiated cost reduction objectives.
  • Expertise in understanding and mitigating risks to business operations.
Salary and Benefits

Primary level salary range: $220,100 – $330,100. Additional compensation may include overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonuses, and, for VP or Director roles, long‑term incentives.

Benefits include health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, company‑paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and personal business.
