Job summary

Elevate Aircraft Seating in Huntington Beach, CA is seeking an Industrial Engineer to develop lean concepts, design one-piece flow lines to TAKT times, and drive continuous improvement on the shop floor.

You will apply Lean methods, balance lines, mentor teams, create visual management, and ensure safety and quality in aerospace manufacturing. The role is on-site with competitive benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering degree is required.
  • 5+ years of Lean Manufacturing practices.
  • 5+ years of Experience in implementing process improvements.
  • 5+ years of experience in leading cross-functional teams and leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement production lines running to TAKT times based on customer demand.
  • Perform time studies to balance one piece flow lines and remove inefficiencies.
  • Plan and lay out production lines and create layout drawings in Autocad.
  • Lead CI improvements across the facility with focus on production and materials teams.
  • Work with operators to improve shopfloor 5S, ergonomics, and efficiency.
  • Create and maintain KPIs for production lines and mentor in Lean concepts.
  • Monitor TAKT/cycle times and rebalance lines to meet TAKT times; identify root causes of variation.
  • Lead special projects as needed.
  • Create Lean processes including visual management, standard work, TAKT timers, and Andon systems.
  • Identify process improvements to improve efficiency and cost effectiveness.
  • Coordinate sequencing of work for smooth operations and resource use.
  • Design, build, and improve material conveyance systems.
  • Maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

JOB SUMMARY

The Industrial Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing lean concepts and continuous improvement initiatives. This role will design one piece flow production lines with an established TAKT time. The Industrial Engineer will apply Lean manufacturing methods to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.

SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES

  • Design and implement production lines running to TAKT times based on customer demand
  • Perform time studies through direct observation and use data to balance one piece flow production lines, sub-assembly lines, and to find and remove inefficiencies
  • Help implement the planning and layout of the production lines and support areas within facility, creates layout drawings in Autocad
  • Plan, lead, and execute the implementation of CI Continuous Improvements across the facility with focus on production and materials teams
  • Work with operators to create tool/parts holders to improve shopfloor 5s and reduce damage to parts, improve ergonomics, and efficiency
  • Create and maintain Key Performance Indicators for production line
  • Mentor team and teaches Lean Concepts
  • Determine, monitor and improve upon TAKT / cycle times and implements processes, make sure production lines can meet TAKT times and rebalance, if necessary, find root cause of variability on production lines
  • Lead special projects as needed
  • Create Lean and robust processes, including process management, process maturity, visual management, standard work, TAKT timers, and Andon systems
  • Identify process improvement opportunities to ensure efficiency of operations and cost effectiveness.
  • Coordinate sequencing of work, such as build and delivery, to ensure smooth operations and optimal use of resources
  • Design, build, and improve Material Conveyance systems
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and legal work environment, adhering to all Company policies and procedures
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Maintain and protect the confidentiality of the Company’s information and products
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned or requested
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS – Education, Knowledge, and Experience
Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering; Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering degree is required

Experience:
  • 5+ years of Lean Manufacturing practices
  • 5+ years of Experience in implementing process improvements.
  • 5+ years of experience in leading cross-functional teams and leaders
Skills:
  • Ability to successfully handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience in understanding a variety of aerospace manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of related software including CATIA, AUTOCAD, and PLM
Preferred Skills/Experience:
  • Lean Manufacturing
  • Single Piece Flow
  • Industrial or manufacturing experience
  • Line Balancing Running lines to TAKT timers
Other:
  • May be asked to work extended or irregular hours as required
  • Must show proof of ability to work in the United States

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Salary Range Transparency:

$100,000 - $120,000 annually
