Job summary

GEODIS in Nashville is seeking an Industrial Engineer III – Distribution Center Design to develop conceptual and detailed designs for new distribution/fulfillment operations. You will lead design packages including facility layouts, material handling, storage media, and slotting analyses to support implementation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Process, Mechatronics, or related engineering.
• Minimum 4 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and SQL.
• PC literate with Microsoft Office Suite.
• 3PL warehousing, distribution center or fulfillment experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes client data to determine order profiles, storage media application, product slotting, velocity, SKU affinities, ABC analysis.
• Supports the sales process by assisting solutions team with RFP responses and presenting to potential clients.
• Conducts scope confirmation with client and performs gap analysis; documents and escalates changes.
• Leads detailed engineering to convert design from concept to full detailed design ready for implementation with AutoCAD layouts.
• Prepares engineering documents describing storage, capacity, zoning, slotting and waving; coordinates reviews with stakeholders.
• Prepares WMS configuration files for locations slotting/zoning/sequences/put-away and generates slotting tools.
• Manages material handling vendors through schedule, installation, commissioning, tests and punch lists.
• Keeps knowledge up-to-date with emerging industry practices.

The Industrial Engineer III – Distribution Center Design is responsible for developing a conceptual and a detailed design and the implementation of new distribution and fulfillment business. Leads the development of a design package that may include facility layouts, material handling equipment designs, storage media designs, process designs, and slotting and pick path analyses.

Your role on the team:

• Analyzes client data to determine order profiles, storage media application, product slotting, velocity, SKU affinities, ABC analysis
• Supports the sales process by supporting the solutions team’s response to RFPs including developing materials and presenting to potential clients
• Participates in scope confirmation sessions with client and conducts gap analysis to ensure issues are resolved; identifies changes to the scope when they occur and provides necessary documentation and escalation
• Leads detailed engineering process on new business awards to take the design from conceptualization to full detailed design ready for implementation by performing data analyses, developing material handling specifications, working with vendors to obtain quotes, and generating a detailed, engineered AutoCAD layout with fitment into the selected facility
• Prepares engineering documents to describe solution and detailed operating concepts such as storage and shipping capacity, zoning, slotting, waving, etc. and facilitates reviews with key work stream leads including engineering peers, WMS Implementation, and operations
• Participates on a team responsible for the implementation of new business by preparing WMS configuration files with all needed locations slotting/zoning/sequences/put-away and picking profiles for the facility and preparing slotting files and/or slotting tool for the facility
• Manages material handling vendors through schedule, permitting, installation, commissioning, punch lists, etc. and validates all equipment installation, including necessary testing of automated material handling equipment
• Researches and maintains knowledge of emerging industry practice

What you need: (requirements)

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Process, Mechatronics, or related engineering degree from an accredited institution
• Minimum 4 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Must be proficient in AutoCAD and SQL
• Must be PC literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• 3PL warehousing, distribution center or fulfillment experience preferred
