Job summary

Airbus Aerosystems Kinston seeks an Industrial Engineer - Composite to drive composite process improvements and support ramp-up for the A350 at the Kinston, NC site. You will coordinate with the Airbus composite community and ensure processes meet AIRBUS standards, while enabling cross-plant learning and best practices.

The role requires a engineering degree with at least 5 years in Airbus composite manufacturing, strong ME process knowledge, and international collaboration experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering required.
  • 5 years experience with AIRBUS composite manufacturing, processes and regulations.
  • Composite Manufacturing skills and knowledge of manufacturing processes for composites.
  • Knowledge of composite materials and processing techniques.
  • Experience with ME processes, preferably AIRBUS or aviation industry.
  • Experience working in international environments.
  • Familiar with Google workspace tools.
  • Travel up to 10% domestically and internationally.
  • Fluent English with strong communication skills.
  • Authorized to work in the US.
  • On-site work environment (100% on-site).

Responsibilities

  • Advise and ensure Airbus composite processes conform to AIPI/AIPS and other standards; align with other plants for lessons learned.
  • Support ramp-up projects for the A350 and propose improvements to reduce lead time and cost of composite processes.
  • Write specifications for composite manufacturing machines and environments with input from the Airbus composite network.
  • Serve as focal point for exchange with other Airbus plants to share lessons learned and best practices.

Airbus Aerosystems Kinston is looking for an Industrial Engineer - Composite to join our team based in Kinston, NC. You will be supporting as a ME Engineer for Composite Technologies the site to improve composite production processes and support the ramp up of the A350 rate. You are also the focal point for composite ME topics in Kinston as an interface to the whole composite community.

Your Challenges
  • Process Securance and Advisory for Composite Processes: 40% Advise and support the site for AIRBUS composite process conform to AIPI/AIPS and other composite process and regulations Check existing AIPI/S in Airbus process and secure the implementation of this in the site Give advisory to Management for process securance Secure the exchange with other plants to have aligned and validated process and exchange on lessons learned
  • Composite Process Improvements and Ramp up: 40% Support improvement projects to protect the ramp up of A350 and propose new projects to improve and secure Propose new ideas to improve Leadtime and Cost of composite processes Write specifications for Composite manufacturing machines and environment with the support of the existing AIRBUS Composite network
  • Focal Point for Composite ME Processes: 15% Secure exchange with other AIRBUS plants to create lessons learned for composite ME technologies
  • Additional Responsibilities: 5% Be the interface between Kinston Composite community and existing AIRBUS composite communities to to enable us to grow together
Your Boarding Pass
  • Bachelor degree in Engineering
  • 5 years experience with AIRBUS composite manufacturing, processes and regulations

Physical Requirements
  • Vision: able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings.
  • Daily Hearing: able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on production floor including safety warnings or alarms.
  • Daily Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications.
  • Daily Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts.
  • Daily Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
  • Occasional Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
  • Daily Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.
  • Daily Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on computer.
  • Daily Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.

Personal Protective Equipment required
  • Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site.
  • 100% Administrative position only PPE required: Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visit, appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.
