The position works cross-functionally with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, and external vendors to implement scalable and sustainable solutions.

Key Responsibilities
Automation & Process Improvement
  • Lead the design, evaluation, and implementation of automated packaging solutions (robotics, vision systems, conveyor systems, palletizing, case packing, labeling, and material handling).
  • Analyze current packaging processes to identify automation opportunities and ROI-driven improvements.
  • Develop and maintain time studies, workflow analysis, value stream mapping, and capacity modeling.
  • Improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) through process redesign and automation enhancements.
  • Support equipment layout design and facility optimization initiatives.
  • Leverage artificial intelligence and machine learning tools to optimize packaging line performance, enable predictive maintenance, and improve quality inspection accuracy.
  • Utilize advanced data analytics and AI-driven modeling to identify process inefficiencies, reduce downtime, and support data-driven operational decision-making.
Project Management
  • Manage automation and capital improvement projects from concept through implementation and post-launch optimization.
  • Develop project scopes, budgets, timelines, and technical specifications.
  • Coordinate with OEMs, system integrators, and automation vendors.
  • Oversee equipment installation, commissioning, and validation.
Data & Performance Analytics

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Maintenance and Engineering to ensure reliability and maintainability of automated systems.
  • Support Quality initiatives to ensure packaging integrity and compliance.
  • Train supervisors and operators on new automated systems and workflow changes.
  • Support safety initiatives and risk assessments related to automation implementation.
Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field required.
Experience
  • 3–7+ years of industrial engineering experience in manufacturing, preferably within packaging, food & beverage, consumer goods, or high-speed production environments.
  • Experience implementing automation projects in packaging operations strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with robotics, PLC interfaces, vision systems, or material handling systems preferred.
Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Experience with AutoCAD or other layout/design software.
  • Knowledge of OEE tracking, time studies, and capacity modeling.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MES systems.
  • Strong data analysis skills (Excel, Minitab, Power BI or similar).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into actionable process improvements.
  • Effective project management capabilities with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead without direct authority, influencing cross-functional teams including Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and external vendors to drive project execution and process change.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to present technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Results-oriented with a continuous improvement mindset and a bias toward action.
  • Ability to build trust, gain buy-in, and drive accountability in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
