Summary

The Industrial Engineer (IE) is responsible for optimizing efficiency, reducing waste, and increasing productivity in the company’s manufacturing system. The IE will design and develops production layouts for the company’s production to increase productivity and quality standards. Their main duties include reviewing current production schedules and processes to find potential improvements, designing the layouts of the facilities and estimating production costs. This position requires a blend of technical and analytical skills, including proficiency in data analysis, computer programming, and knowledge of manufacturing processes. Industrial Engineers must also have excellent communication skills to work effectively with team members, managers, and clients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Process Improvement: Analyze existing workflows and processes to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement. Employ methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma to streamline operations and eliminate waste.
  • Workplace Design: Design and optimize facility layouts, considering factors like space utilization, material flow, ergonomics, and safety to create efficient and ergonomic workplaces.
  • Production Planning: Utilize production schedules and coordinate services to maximize productivity. Assess workforce requirements and design work schedules to optimize resource allocation.
  • Quality Control: Implementing quality control procedures is a key responsibility. Partner with Quality to develop and enforce standards to ensure product or service quality, conducting regular evaluations to maintain compliance.
  • Data Analysis: Utilizing data analysis tools, gather, interpret, and report on process performance. This data-driven approach aids in informed decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Project Management: Lead or contribute to project management efforts, coordinating tasks, setting timelines, and managing budgets to ensure successful project execution.

  • Interpersonal Communication: Effective communication is critical working with cross-functional teams. Ability to convey complex ideas clearly and persuade stakeholders to adopt new processes.
  • Embrace Technology: As industries evolve with advancements in automation and data analytics, must be adaptable and willing to learn new technologies and methodologies to stay competitive.

Problem solving: Detect various issues, analyze their nature and causes, design ways to resolve them and implement the solutions.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field and/or equivalent military experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in Industrial Engineering, Process Engineering, or quality/process improvement roles.
  • 3+ years using data analysis tools such as Excel, Minitab, SQL, or Python.
  • Power BI expertise a must.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to influence technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Lean and/or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt certification.
