Job summary

DRiV is hiring an Industrial Engineer in Smyrna, TN to lead the development and implementation of complex material handling systems and layouts. You will drive automation initiatives, improve throughput, reduce costs, and apply data-driven engineering principles across the distribution center.

This role requires a strong background in industrial/ mechanical engineering, Lean principles, and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• 4-10 years directly relevant experience in industrial engineering or related fields.
• Experience with material handling systems and layouts.
• Proven ability to analyze data and optimize processes.

Responsibilities

• Identify, plan, and oversee DC improvement projects including safety, quality, productivity, and cost.
• Define project scope and objectives with measurable milestones.
• Develop timing plans and monitor progress to meet deadlines.
• Create financial models for capital equipment and ROI assessments.
• Provide updates to executive leadership on project status.
• Coordinate with vendors and cross-functional teams during implementation.

Industrial Engineer

We are looking for an Industrial Engineer to join our Smyrna, TN DRiV team. This position will lead the development / implementation of complex material handling systems & layouts within the Smyrna DC facilities. You’ll get to make an impact in many ways, including the implementation of automation systems, improving through put and reducing operational cost through advanced data analysis & engineering principles.

The team is ready to act immediately on those candidates who are the best fit for the role. You’ll first hear from someone in Human Resources to schedule a phone screen, and then the next step will be a panel interview with our hiring team. We pride ourselves on moving through this process quickly, with transparency and prompt communication throughout.

Responsibilities

• Identify, plan, and oversee DC improvement projects to include plant safety, quality, productivity, and cost.
• Define project scope and objectives.
• Develop detailed timing plans with functional milestones to support project objectives; execute plan within established timing.
• Create project financial model to include capital equipment, investment ROI, labor cost / savings & manage project spending forecast.
• Provide project updates regularly to executive leadership team.
• Research and analyze best practices in engineering concepts and trends for applicability; stay current and leverage today’s emerging technologies to benefit DRiV.
• Develop and manage project schedules, cross-functional deliverables, and detailed timelines.
• Engage third-party vendors to quote and source equipment and services necessary for projects.
• Provide technical support during implementation, launch, testing, and operational stabilization of new systems.
• Coordinate equipment installation, testing, and capability validation with vendors and cross-functional teams.
• Evaluate process, tooling, and equipment issues; implement corrective actions and support root cause analysis.
• Create Statements of Work, Scope of Requirements, and supporting engineering documentation, layouts, and process updates.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Supply Chain is required.

• Strong technical background with passion for distribution technology with a desire and ability to envision new concepts including.

• Proven experience and passion for Lean Principles.
• Excellent project management skills include developing / managing a project plan, establishing project priorities, working to deadlines, and controlling multiple projects in various states of readiness to meet project milestones and deadlines.
• Experience in capital equipment financial model development
• Experience working in cross functional teams in a warehouse, technical or manufacturing environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to communicate effectively across all levels and channels of the organization to resolve issues and overcome barriers.
