Morgan Truck Body in Morgantown, PA is seeking an Industrial Engineer to lead labor standards, routings, and continuous improvement across product lines. You will partner with Advanced Manufacturing to support new launches and optimize processes, with up to 60% travel as needed.

The role emphasizes data-driven labor costing, DFMA collaboration, and developing clear work instructions while enhancing safety, quality, and efficiency within a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and systems, with the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field and/or relevant manufacturing experience.
• Leadership experience with the ability to lead, coach, and collaborate across functional teams.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, schedules, and travel requirements with minimal supervision.
• Practical problem-solving skills to drive process improvements and support change initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Labor Standards Development — Establish and optimize labor standards that balance safety, quality, and cost competitiveness across Manufacturing, Engineering, and Sales.
• ERP & Routing Management — Maintain accurate labor standards and material routings within the ERP system, ensuring alignment with production processes and product structures.
• Time Studies & Analysis — Conduct time studies to validate standards and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.
• Product & BOM Management — Maintain bills of materials and item master data to support new product launches and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Costing & Estimation — Analyze new products and processes to develop accurate labor cost estimates and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Process Improvement — Evaluate current manufacturing processes and implement improvements that drive efficiency, quality, and safety.
• Capital Justification — Identify labor-saving opportunities and support cost justification for capital investments.
• Design for Manufacturability — Partner with Engineering to enhance product designs for manufacturability, quality, and customer satisfaction.
• Work Instruction Development — Create and maintain clear, effective work instructions to support standardized operations.
• Team Development — Coach and support the Offshore Engineering team to build capability and consistency.
• Travel & Flexibility — Travel up to 60% based on business needs; support additional duties as required.

In this role, you will lead the development and optimization of labor standards and material routings across Morgan’s product lines. What You Bring to the Table:

• Technical Knowledge — Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and systems, with the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Education & Experience — Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field and/or relevant manufacturing experience.

• Leadership — Previous supervisory experience with the ability to lead, coach, and collaborate across functional teams.
• Project & Priority Management — Effectively manage multiple projects, priorities, schedules, and travel requirements with minimal supervision.
• Problem Solving & Improvement — Apply practical problem-solving skills to drive process improvements and support change initiatives.
• Systems & Tools — Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems.

• Communication & Collaboration — Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization.

• Lean Methodology Proficiency – Formal training and application of Lean principles, including 5S, waste elimination, mistake-proofing (poka-yoke), PDCA, root cause analysis, A3 problem solving, value stream mapping, Kaizen, and lead time reduction.

• Quality & Execution — Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Physical Requirements:

• Step into a dynamic office role where you’ll stay seated for eight hours with the freedom to sit or stand as you work. Move around comfortably on level surfaces, reaching high and low above shoulder heights and below the waist to organize files and materials with care. Safe lifting skills are key as you occasionally handle materials.

• Work in an active manufacturing plant environment where hands‑on tasks keep you engaged! This role requires regular talking and listening. You’ll frequently stand, walk, and use your hands to handle, feel, and reach as you complete your daily duties with precision.
